Psycho-Pass Release Plans Change
posted on by Andrew Osmond
Manga Entertainment has confirmed on its twitter feed that its release plans for Psycho-Pass have been changed. Whereas the SF/horror anime was previously scheduled to be released in two parts on July 14 (pictured) and September 1, the change means that Psycho-Pass will instead be released as a "Complete Series 1 Collection" on September 1.
(Manga Entertainment also linked to the website Base.com, which says that the collection will have an SRP of £39.99 on DVD and £59.99 on Blu-ray.)
Psycho-Pass takes place in the near future, when it is possible to instantaneously measure and quantify a person's state of mind and personality. The story centers around the "enforcement officer" Shinya Kōgami (Tomokazu Seki) who is tasked with managing crime in such a world. Naoyoshi Shiotani (Blood+, Tokyo Marble Chocolate) directed the series, Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero) wrote and edited the scripts, and Akira Amano (Reborn!) designed the characters.
The anime premiered on Fuji TV's late-night Noitamina programming block last year. Production I.G is working on a second television season and new film. The second series is due to begin in October, followed by the film in winter.
