Level-5 abby aims to create, distribute titles such as Yōkai Watch, LBX, Snack World

Game developer Level-5 announced on Thursday that it is teaming with Dentsu Inc. to open a new company called "Level-5 abby" in Santa Monica, California. The company will specialize in creating, producing, and distributing games and animation from Japan to western markets.

The company lists Yo-kai Watch, Little Battlers eXperience (LBX), and Snack World as its "tentpole franchises." Dentsu Entertainment USA has been airing LBX on Nicktoons, Viz Media licensed the manga adaptation, and Nintendo released a Nintendo 3DS game in August in North America and in September in Europe.

Dentsu Entertainment USA will also premiere Yo-Kai Watch on Disney XD on October 5. Viz Media is publishing the manga starting on November 3, and Nintendo will publish the Yo-kai Watch role-playing game on its Nintendo 3DS platform in North America on November 6.

Level-5 unveiled Snack World in April.

The name "abby" is a portmanteau of the "a" from "all" or "anything" and the "bby" from "hobby."
