Anime/Game Dubbing Studio Magnitude 8 Post Closes

Studio worked on Akira, Macross Plus, Gundam film trilogy, many other anime, video games

Audio engineer Les Claypool III announced on his Facebook account on Wednesday that he is closing his Magnitude 8 Post recording studio. Claypool's post stated:

After well over a thousand episodes, trailers, games, movies, etc., the time has come to close the studio doors for good. It's simply not feasible to work three times as hard for one third the money and survive. In this era of a few pieces of foam and an M-box being called a studio, floated floors and walls, isolated electrical, tuned rooms, etc., have gone from necessity to luxury. Since I refuse to illegally 1099 engineers and stick them with self-employment tax, try to talk actors out of their hard earned minimums, and have unpaid interns do the work clients are paying me to do, all in order to meet budgets that are smaller than they were in my garage 25 years ago, I will simply close.

Claypool listed some of the numerous works that he and Magnitude 8 Post had worked on, which include the English versions of: Akira, Royal Space Force - The Wings of Honnêamise, Macross Plus, Mobile Suit Gundam - The Movie Trilogy, Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Serial Experiments Lain, The Big O, Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, El Hazard - The Magnificent World, Wolf's Rain, and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion.

The studio also worked on video game titles such as the Final Fantasy series, Resident Evil 5, the Xenosaga series, .hack//Infection Part 1, and Castlevania: Lament of Innocence.
