Venus Project PS Vita Game Ends Service in February

posted on by Karen Ressler
Free-to-play idol-raising game service opened in April

The staff of the PlayStation Vita game Venus Project announced on the project's official blog on Thursday that it will end service on February 3, 2016. Service for the free-to-play idol-raising game began on April 21.

The staff will continue to offer events and story updates within the game until service ends. Players will be able to download the game's original story and purchase in-game items until the end of December.

The project also inspired a television series, which premiered in Japan on July 5. Funimation streamed the series as it aired in Japan. The show consisted of a six-episode anime series and a six-episode variety show, which featured the main casts of both the anime and the game.

The game and anime projects feature different protagonists, but both tell the story of idols living in Japan in the near future. In this world, data devices and video technology have been progressing to new heights, and people are abuzz about a new form of entertainment — Formula Venus. In Formula Venus or "F-V," the chosen top idols battle in live performances with their willpower, skills, and all their experience gained.
