First FMA anime series to get Blu-ray and DVD in 2016

Anime Limited has announced that it has acquired the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime (2003-4) for release on Blu-ray and DVD in 2016. There will be an Ultimate Edition Blu-ray.

Produced by Studio Bones, this is the first television adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa's fantasy manga, which follows two brothers who risked their bodies with human alchemy to unsuccessfully resurrect their mother. Now the brothers attempt to restore their bodies by seeking the elusive Philosopher's Stone, and they are not alone in their quest.

The original series was released on DVD by MVM, but this edition is now deleted. Bones later made a second television adaptation of the manga, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, which is available on Blu-ray and DVD from Manga Entertainment.
