Kadokawa Games announced more "Mystery Actress" cast members at the Taiwan Game Show on February 2 for its upcoming √Letter (pronounced "Root Letter") PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita adventure game.
The additional voice cast includes:
Yūko Minaguchi as Shiori, the eldest of three sisters who is from Tokyo. Her blood type is A. She is hard-working and earnest, and is a person who continues forward wholeheartedly even in difficult situations. She recognizes Aya and Yukari's talents.
Kikuko Inoue as Yukari. She is from Tokyo, and she has an elder brother. Her blood type is O. She is a genius who can do anything skillfully no matter what it is. She is unselfish, and so she devotes herself to many supporting roles.
Kadokawa Games also began streaming an English-subtitled video for the project on Tuesday that features interviews with character designer and planner Tarō Minoboshi, producer Yoshimi Yasuda, and director Zin Hasegawa.
Kadokawa Games notes that it is releasing the game "worldwide." The company announced at the Taiwan Game Show 2016 that it will release the game in Asia in a Chinese language edition. Kadokawa Games has not yet announced any other language versions of the game aside from Japanese and Chinese.
The previously revealed cast member is:
Noriko Hidaka as Aya. She is from Tokyo, and she is an only child. Her blood type is AB. She loves Japanese history as well as Japanese architecture, clothing, and food. She is interested in Japanese myths and folklore studies. Aya plays the character Aya Fumino in the game.
The game is the first in Kadokawa Games' newly established Kadokawa Game Mystery line. The game line will feature a number of recurring "actress" characters called Mystery Actresses, who will "play" different roles in each game.
The website describes the √Letter game:
The truth is endless sorrow.A letter with no postmark. An unopened letter from your old pen pal Aya Fumino.
"I have killed someone. I have to atone for my sin. We must part here. Goodbye."
What had happened 15 years ago? The truth lies in her letter, and in the testimony of seven classmates.
Was she an angel or a demon? Where is she now?
A youthful suspense story that weaves together reminiscence and reality.
Characters in the game include:
Aya Fumino (played by Aya, voiced by Noriko Hidaka)
The pen pal from 15 years ago. At that time, she was in her third year of high school in Ōniwa High School in Matsue, Shimane. From what she wrote of her high school life in her letters, she was kind and considerate, surrounded by friends and students whom she could communicate with easily. Knowing little more than that, the protagonist became pen pals with her, holding a little love for her in his heart. 15 years later, in the present day, the protagonist discovers a letter from her, dating back to his graduation, that changed his entire thinking. Was her entire school life a lie? The truth lay in Shimane, and the protagonist departs through Haneda Airport to head there.
Kōsuke Tanaka (Megane)
A 33-year old man employed at Matsue City Hall's complaint desk. He's obstinately quiet about Aya Fumino, but in truth, he is an acquaintance of hers, nicknamed "Megane." He used to be the top student in the school, but his grades slipped in his third year, and he couldn't get into his desired national university as a result. He graduated from a no-name college, and went into government employment, but has nothing really to live for. Has a habit of adding "isn't it?" at the end of his sentences, has a tendency to stammer, and speaks politely, but has little self-confidence.
LovePlus character designer Tarō Minoboshi is in charge of planning and character designs. Dario Fuji is handling the scenario, while Takashi Nitta is composing the music. The game project launched a new actress unit named "Mystery Actresses" for the game.
Minoboshi (formerly Mino☆Tarō) left Konami last March, along with LovePlus producer Akari Uchida. He launched his first original manga series titled Seifuku Robin Son in Kodansha's new Shonen Magazine Edge manga magazine last September.
