AFA Singapore Adds Nogizaka46 as Musical Guest, Holds EGOIST Exhibition

The Anime Festival Asia convention revealed on Tuesday that Nogizaka46 is its final musical guest for its C3 AFA Singapore event. The convention will also hold a special screening of the EGOIST exhibition.
AKB48 creator and producer Yasushi Akimoto created the Nogizaka46 group in 2011 as the "official rival" to AKB48, debuting in 2012 with their first single reaching #2 on Oricon's weekly single chart. Each of their singles since then has topped the Oricon single chart in its first week. The group's latest single is "Itsuka dekiru kara Kyō dekiru," which shipped on Wednesday. The group has also released three albums. Nogizaka46 made their first overseas performance at the Japan Expo convention in Paris in 2014. Members of the group have also performed in television dramas, films, and stage plays, such as a stage play adaptation of the Joshiraku manga, and the recent film and stage play adaptations of the Asahinagu manga.
The group's appearance at C3 AFA Singapore will be the group's first performance in Singapore. The convention will reveal which of the group's 46 members will perform at a later date.
EGOIST, a group produced by supercell composer Ryo, debuted with their theme songs to the 2011 Noitamina television anime Guilty Crown. chelly performs vocals for the group. EGOIST have released eight singles and one album since their inception, all of which have charted on the top 10 of Oricon's weekly single or weekly album chart. EGOIST have provided theme songs for such anime as Psycho-Pass, The Empire of Corpses, Harmony, Genocidal Organ, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, and most recently, Fate/Apocrypha.
The group held a similar exhibition during the Tokyo Game Show event in 2016.
C3 AFA Singapore is one of five in content company Sotsu Co., Ltd. and Singaporean events and marketing agency Sozo Pte. Ltd.'s "C3 AFA" joint events that bring together their C3 and Anime Festival Asia events. Aside from Singapore, the events have also run in Thailand, Indonesia, and Japan, and will also have an event in Hong Kong in February 2018.
The convention will take place at the Suntec Singapore Exhibition & Convention Center on November 24-26. Other musical guests include ClariS, FLOW, fripSide, Luce Twinkle Wink☆, May'n, Shiena Nishizawa, Tomohisa Sakō, Konomi Suzuki, Moso Calibration, TRUE, Mashiro Ayano, Iris, and Nano. The event will also hold a preview screening of the first episode of Kyoto Animation's upcoming Violet Evergarden television anime.
