Game promised as stretch goal for original Kickstarter campaign releases worldwide on May 24

Inti Creates began streaming a trailer on Saturday to announce it and Koji Igarashi's Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon video game. The game is an 8-bit style game that Igarashi originally promised as a stretch goal for the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Kickstarter campaign. Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon will release worldwide for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam) on May 24. The game will retail for US$9.99 / €9.99.

Inti Creates describes the game:

Battle with swords and whips in this retro-style action game brought to you by game creator Koji Igarashi and Inti Creates!

Play as Zangetsu, a Demon Slayer bearing a deep grudge, who must travel through perilous lands to defeat a powerful demon lurking in a dark castle. Zangetsu will meet fellow travelers along the way, who can join your journey as playable characters.

Switching to these characters with their unique abilities will unlock new paths through the treacherous stages. Your choices in recruiting these adventurers will change the difficulty of the game, and may even affect the ending!

Backers who chose a backing tier that included the 8-bit game will receive codes soon via the official website or the Kickstarter update page.

The main Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night game will be an "action-adventure game in the gothic horror style." Igarashi used Kickstarter to help fund the game. The project met its initial goal of US$500,000 within four hours of launching in May 2015, and the campaign ended with more than US$5.5 million. The campaign and its stretch goals funded the release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC. The campaign also funded a Wii U version, but the version was cancelled in favor of a Nintendo Switch version.

The game will offer single-player, collaborative, and versus modes. Igarashi (Castlevania, Tokimeki Memorial) is helming the game, and Michiru Yamane (Skullgirls) and Ippō Yamada (Mega Man) are sound producers and composers. David Hayter (Metal Gear Solid's Snake) is a cast member. The voice cast also includes Ray Chase, Kari Wahlgren, Christopher Swindle, Jamie Mortellaro, Rena Strober, Fred Tatasciore, Erica Lindbeck, Ben Diskin, Fryda Wolff, and Robert Belgrade.
