Clannad Visual Novel Gets Switch Release in Spring With English Text

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
New version also supports 5.1 surround, full touchscreen controls

Game company Prototype announced on December 27 that it will release Visual Art's/Key's Clannad visual novel for the Nintendo Switch in Japan this spring. The game will support Japanese and English text, and will have a new 5.1 surround sound mix, full touchscreen support, as well as the English Dangopedia from the previous English releases.

Sekai Project released the Clannad visual novel on the PC via Steam in November 2015 after a successful Kickstarter campaign. Sekai Project also released the Clannad: Side Stories visual novel on the PC via Steam in 2016. Prototype also released the game for the PlayStation 4 last June in both English and Japanese.

The original visual novel has already been ported to PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP, Xbox 360, PlayStation Vita, and phones in Japan.

The game inspired an anime movie and two television anime series. The series follows delinquent high school student Tomoya Okazaki, who one day meets a strange girl named Nagisa Furukawa who is a year older, but is repeating her last year of high school due to illness. Tomoya becomes involved with Nagisa and her hopes of restarting the school drama club.
