The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Aoni Production agency announced on Wednesday that it has postponed or withdrew the appearances of voice actress Marika Kōno at events, after receiving an email threatening to harm Kōno.

Aoni stated that it received an April 2 email message threatening to harm Kōno's life and body. The agency promptly filed a report with the local police, submitted the threatening email's log data, and requested an investigation. Aoni added that it has been able to continue normal business with Kōno currently, but have decided that events with many attendees would pose a significant risk to not only her safety but also that of her fans and staff at the events. The agency apologized to the fans looking forward to see Kōno, and for causing great concern.

The company added that it deems violence and intimidation like this incident unacceptable, and will cooperate with the local police and its own counsel to take legal action. The company stated that it will prioritize the safety of Kōno and its other talents.

The May 10 event commemorating the release of Kōno's Voice Actor Card Collection Vol. 15 has been postponed, and she will not appear at the Onsen Festival 2025 stage event during Machi Asobi Vol. 28 on May 11.

Kōno is known for her roles as Silence Suzuka in the Uma Musume Pretty Derby series, Mizuki Yuiga in We Never Learn: BOKUBEN, Flamme in Synduality: Noir, and Mahiro Oyama in ONIMAI: I'm Now Your Sister!, among others. She voices Seiha Shiunji in The Shiunji Family Children anime, which premiered on April 8.
