Tokyopop Taps Former Sony Pictures Entertainment Exec for CFO

TOKYOPOP INC. TAPS FORMER SONY PICTURES ENTERTAINMENT SENIOR EXEC MARK
LEBOWITZ FOR CFO

Los Angeles, CA (March 9, 2004)--TokyoPop Inc., North America's #1
manga publisher and a burgeoning international entertainment company, has
announced the hiring of Mark Lebowitz as Chief Financial Officer.
Lebowitz comes to TOKYOPOP with over 15 years of proven financial and
operational experience in the entertainment, distribution, media,
international and manufacturing sectors. The former SPE pro will use his strong
analytical, leadership and business development expertise to champion the
company's financial and operating performance and build upon the
phenomenal success TOKYOPOP has seen in the past several years.

Mr. Lebowitz's successful track record is evident. As Senior Vice
President/Chief Financial Officer of Sony Pictures' worldwide television
operations, he led the financial and business development activities for
the business unit and managed a staff of more than 100. His efforts
resulted in the successful launch of a number of new businesses and
pay/cable networks, as well as substantial cost savings and increased cash
flow. Lebowitz has also held high-level executive finance positions with
HarperCollins Publishers and Paramount Pictures Corporation.

Mr. Lebowitz holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the University

Pennsylvania State University. He is also a CPA and a member of the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
