Industry's First Channel To Move From Strictly VOD to 24/7 Format
Launches With Event From the Comcast Media Center in Denver

Network Kicks Off With Classic Episode of "Neon Genesis Evangelion"

HOUSTON, TX - August 2, 2004 - Anime Network became the first cable channel to move from a strictly video-on-demand (VOD) format to a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week national network on July 27 with a kickoff event from the Comcast Media Center in Littleton, CO, where the network's signal originates. The winner of Anime Network's national "Launch the Network Sweepstakes," Janine Hwang of Orlando, Fla., pulled a lever to officially inaugurate the network uplink, making the best of anime available to cable systems nationwide.

After the kickoff event at 12:00 noon CT, the network officially began its programming schedule with an episode of the wildly popular series "Neon Genesis Evangelion," the futuristic story of a fierce battle for the Earth, between the mysterious alien beings known as the Angels, and mankind's Last Hope for survival, the awe-inspiring Evangelions, after the inhabitants of Earth are nearly completely wiped out by a mysterious meteorite strike on Antarctica.

With its 24/7 linear network nationwide launch, Anime Network moves to a new level, giving fans non-stop anime action in feature films and television series such as "Noir," "Spriggan," "Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040," "Tekken," "Golden Boy," "Ninja Resurrection," "Samurai X: The Motion Picture," "Comic Party," "Gravion," "Kaleido Star," "Orphen," "Final Fantasy," "Chobits," "Boogiepop Phantom" "Peacemaker," and "Chrono Crusade."
