Otaku University Releases Class Programming and Professor Information

Phoenix, Arizona – September 12, 2007 Otaku University has released a number of guest professor names and classes on their website since the start of September. New guests include Susie Parker, owner of Sew from the Heart, Anne Schutte, a drawing professor of twenty plus years, Hank deRonde, past owner of Mesa Photo Supply and current owner of Mesa Photo Studio.

Along with the above mentioned professors, Otaku University reports that two martial arts studios will be joining the conference and offering introductory classes for their different styles. Fourth degree black belt, Mark Knighton, fourth degree black belt, Venita Knighton and second degree black belt, Jeff Miller of Anari Martial Arts will be presenting traditional Okinawan Shuri-ryu Karate via demonstration followed by hands on training with and without weapons. Jeff Harris and his students at Arizona Shinkendo will also be hosting demonstrations and introductory classes for basic sword stances and positions at the event.

Lastly, Otaku University is excited to announce the involvement of Cyndi Greening and members of her Zambian film crew, Pamela Bowman, Jeniece Toranzo and Nicholas Marshall. The crew will be offering a plethora of film and industry related courses including: screenwriting, low budget and no budget production, green screening, compositing, self promotion, 3D modeling, 3D animation and Flash.

The above mentioned professors will be joining the ranks of Michael McConnohie, actor, voice actor, writer and director, Melodee M. Spevack, actress, voice actress, voice caster and director, Seobon, an independent Japanese music composer, and Debora Deacon, an art historian and teacher of the history of anime and manga.

Class listing: Business of Acting, Performance Master, Photography Basics, Painting with Light, Costumes as Language, Alice in Anime Wonderland, Creating Music, Gesture Drawing, My Label, Okinawan Shuri-ryu Karate, Screenwriting, Low Budget & No Budget Production, Green Screening, Composting, Selling Yourself and Your Film, 3D Modeling, 3D Animation, and Flash. The art studio is open for anyone to stop by and sketch during the conference. A full suit of samurai armor will be available for sketching.

Other Events: Iron Cosplay Event, Radical Audio Visual Experience: a seven hour dance party featuring Seobon, DJ Citrik, DJ Louder, Ben Sparrow, Aaron Z and RayRay. Film Festival, Fashion Show, Casual Gaming, a musical performance from Anime Rapper, MAJA, an acoustic set by Natz from Rusika, Art Fair, evening karaoke, board games hosted by Otaku Club and a Moon Viewing Ceremony at the Japanese Friendship Gardens in Phoenix.
