Anime-ZAP! Moves To Peoria Civic Center in 2012

July 20, 2011 – Peoria, Illinois – Anime-ZAP!, the Illinois anime convention that started as an "instant" anime convention, will return to Peoria this January 14-15, 2012 at the Peoria Civic Center in downtown Peoria, Illinois.

Anime-ZAP! first started in 2010, after the organizers of QC Anime-zing! had learned that a nearby con, Pokettokon, had been cancelled. The first Anime-ZAP! was created with less than three days of planning, and still had over 160 fans attend that first year. The second year moved to the Holiday Inn City Centre, with around 400 people attending.

In 2012, the convention will be held at the Peoria Civic Center.

"We're excited about having some awesome space, and we will be able to make the convention bigger and better than ever," said Ryan Kopf, senior convention organizer.

Events at Anime-ZAP! 2012 will include anime screenings, video game tournaments, collectible card games, a manga library with over 1,000 manga, fan panels, and more. The convention will also feature a hallway cosplay contest, masquerade, plenty of dealers and artists, a formal ball, and a rave dance.

Admission for this Illinois anime convention costs only $15 through October 10, 2011. Registration increases to $20 through December 31st, 2011, and is only $25 at the door.

Anime-ZAP! is a production of QC Anime-zing! QC Anime-zing! is held annually in the Quad Cities, near Davenport, Iowa. The same organizers are also planning Anime-SPARK! 2012 in Cedar Rapids, IA from February 16-19, 2012 on the weekend after valentine's day.
