Tekkoshocon to Celebrate Fandom Through the Decades with Robotech, Uncle Yo

February 15, 2012 - PITTSBURGH, Pa - Japanese pop culture convention Tekkoshocon is pleased to announce Kevin McKeever of the Robotech Tour and Uncle Yo as guests for its tenth anniversary event to be held March 21-25 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Robotech, featuring footage from three separate anime combined into one epic tale, was a key inspiration to the generation of fans that created the convention circuit as we know it. It continues to capture the hearts of fans today through recent video game, comic, and OVA releases. As a tribute to this continuing franchise, Kevin McKeever brings his industry insight and enthusiasm to Tekkoshocon as part of the Robotech Tour. McKeever came into the anime world through production, where his experience includes television shows like Jackass! and Krypton Factor and movies such as Mystery Men and For Love of the Game. His work with Harmony Gold has afforded him the opportunity to interact with fans and conventions worldwide, giving him a unique perspective regarding both the worldwide reception of Robotech and the future of anime in general. Fans can enjoy Kevin's wealth of knowledge and entertaining, thought-provoking panels throughout the weekend.

Uncle Yo is well known throughout the convention circuit as a comic, author, emcee, and self-proclaimed mecha attack survival specialist. A veteran performer at conventions nationwide, Yo comes to Tekkoshocon armed with his giant D20 and a full-length comedy routine celebrating all brands of nerddom: anime, comic books, video games, LARPing, Star Wars, RPGs and manga. Yo will be performing stand-up as well as hosting panels, emceeing events, and inciting laughter in random places throughout the convention.

Tekkoshocon opens on Wednesday, March 21 with an evening of screenings and games at the Hollywood Theater in Dormont. The convention then moves to the Wyndham Grand Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh for four full days from Thursday, March 22 through Sunday, March 25. Preregistration for entry to Tekkoshocon X is available at a discounted rate via the tekkoshocon.com webpage through February 29, 2012.
