2013 South American Champion Carlos Andres Perez Padilla to Travel to the United States as Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Champion

South American Dragon Duel Champion Juan Luis Alva Cuadros from Lima, Peru also to Compete at 2013 World Championship

El Segundo, CA (July 8, 2013) – This past weekend at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) 2013 South American World Championship Qualifier in Guayaquil, Ecuador, throngs of skilled Duelists from all corners of South America played the best games of their lives in hopes of capturing the title of South American Champion. After two exciting days of play, Carlos Andres Perez Padilla and Juan Luis Alva Cuadros were thrilled to emerge with the top honors of being crowned Champions. Hosted by Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (Konami) this premier-level event provided the opportunity for Duelists to earn the right to represent South America at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada (USA) August 10th -11th.

South America's best Duelists traveled to Ecuador to compete in this world class event, but it was Ecuador's own Perez Padilla who had the tenacity, skill and an impressive Dragon Ruler Deck that proved to be the winning combination at Sunday's Final Round of the Main Event. With both final competitors playing to win, it came down to Lima, Peru's Omar Carlos Edmundo Ramirez y de Montenegro Lui and his well-worn Spellbook Deck, with Peres Padilla methodically plotting his strategy out-playing Montenegro Lui. The victory propelled Perez Padilla to the top spot and the privilege of representing South America at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship as 2013 South American WCQ Champion. He won a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, a spectacular set of prizes that include complete sets of Cosmo Blazer and Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy, two Super Rare copies of Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry – YCS Prize Card, a 64GB iPad, a personalized Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship jersey to be awarded at the World Championship, and six Booster Packs each of Return of the Duelist, Abyss Rising, Cosmo Blazer and Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy.

Lima, Peru's Juan Luis Alva Cuadros had an impressive win over his peers to earn the coveted title of South American Dragon Duel Champion during the weekend's Dragon Duel tournaments (for Duelists born in 2000 or later). Alva Cuadros, strategically playing a customized Deck full of cards specifically chosen to counteract the most popular current Decks to expertly defeat his opponents, secured an invitation to the Dragon Duel World Championship on August 10th -11th. In addition to winning a trip to Las Vegas for him and a guardian, he also received an amazing prize pack including complete sets of Cosmo Blazer and Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy, a Super Rare Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry – YCS Prize Card, a 64GB iPad, and a personalized Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship jersey to be awarded at the World Championship.

The 2013 Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship will be held at Bally's Las Vegas, Nevada (www.ballyslasvegas.com). Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG fans and families and friends of participating Duelists are encouraged to come cheer on the players.
