Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Denver Winners Announced

ANDERSON TSANG & DRAGON DUEL WINNER DIEGO REY DIAZ SCALED THE MOUNTAIN TOPS TO WIN THE Yu-Gi-Oh! CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES DENVER

El Segundo, Calif. (April 11, 2017) – Dueling throughout the weekend a mile above sea level in the high plains surrounding the Denver area, hundreds of passionate fans of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) competed for the top prize at Yu-Gi-Oh! CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (YCS) Denver. Hosted by Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KONAMI), this premier-level event gives players a chance to meet fellow players and display their skills and strategies while enjoying great camaraderie with their fellow Duelists. YCS Denver crowned two new Champions, Anderson Tsang and Dragon Duel top finisher Diego Rey Diaz.

Duelists of every age and ability showed off their expert Dueling skills during the course of the weekend. On Sunday, Tsang from Alameda, CA learned that his Infernoid Deck proved its worth as he earned a spot in Day 2 of the tournament. Starting with several rounds of Single Elimination, he squared off against Leonard Anaya III from Albuquerque, NM using a Zoodiac Deck in the final playoff.

In addition to bringing home the title of YCS Champion, Tsang received a special set of prizes that included the new YCS prize card, an Ultra Rare Number 93: Utopia Kaiser, a YCS Championship Trophy, the new YCS Top Cut Game Mat, a PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, 27 World Qualifying Points*, and an invitation and paid travel to his 2017 World Championship Qualifier (WCQ) tournament!

*The number of World Qualifying Points is awarded based on the final standings. For example, if there are 32 WCQ invites, the Duelist who comes in 1st place will earn 32 points, the 2nd place Duelist will earn 31 points, and so on.

The Main Event wasn't the only championship event up for grabs. The competition in the Dragon Duel tournament (an event for Duelists born in 2004 or later) featured an exciting series of Duels between Diaz from Las Vegas, NV using his D/D/D Deck against Andy Tran, from Aurora, CO, in the finals. Diaz displayed great sportsmanship and a winning combination as he beat Tran to capture the title of Dragon Duel Champion. He picked up some great prizes too, including a Dragon Duel Championship Trophy, a Regional Deck Box, a Dragon Duel T-shirt, a 2017 Regional Game Mat, and an invitation to his/her 2017 Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier.
