Comicpalooza Announces Anime Guests

DEMON SLAYER LEAD BRINGS CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED ANIME SERIES TO COMICPALOOZA

Voice Actors from Hit Anime Series, Itasha Showdown and More Headed to the Pop-Culture Festival


HOUSTON, TX (April 19, 2022) —Comicpalooza makes its valiant return to the George R. Brown Convention Center for a supercharged weekend of anime, comics, gaming, literature, cosplay, and much more entertainment from Friday, July 15 to Sunday, July 17. Making his Comicpalooza debut, Demon Slayer voice actor Zack Aguilar leads the 2022 guest lineup along with My Hero Academia actors David Matranga, Emily Neves, Justin Cook, Christopher Wehkamp, and Trina Nishimura.

Starting his career at the age of 14, Zach Aguilar has quickly become a force in the industry as one of the youngest voice actors in the field. He is best known for his role as protagonist Tanjiro Kamado in the mega smash-hit series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. His impressive portfolio also includes Aether in Genshin Impact, Byleth in Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Super Smash Bros, Arthur Pendragon from The Seven Deadly Sins, and many more.

native Houstonian and award-winning voice actor, David Matranga's has voiced well-known characters such as Shoto Todoroki in My Hero Academia, Bertholdt Hoover in Attack on Titan, and Hideki Hinata in Angel Beats!. A jack of all trades and fellow Texan, Emily Neves, is a voice actor, director and scriptwriter who is widely recognized for her voice roles as Eri in My Hero Academia, Kanade “Angel” Tachibna in Angel Beats!, Kotomi Ichinose in Clannad and Minen Uryu in Future Diary. Neves is also an accomplished stage actor, theatre director, playwriter and screenwriter.

Bringing characters to life Christopher Wehkamp is a prolific voice actor and director who portrays characters in many anime series and video games such as Shota Aizawa in My Hero Academia, Katagawa Jr. in Borderlands, Takehisa Hinawa in Fire Force, Majora in Dragon Ball Super, to name a few. Voice actor, director and audio engineer Justin Cook is best known for his notable work as Eijiro Kirishima in My Hero Academia, Yusuke in Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files, as well as and voicing several characters in the Dragon Ball franchise including God of Earth, Dende and Goku's brother Raditz. Besides playing Kyoka Jiro in My Hero Academia, Trina Nishimura is a renowned voice actor known for playing the lead female character Mikasa Ackerman in hit anime, Attack on Titan.

Throughout the weekend, fans will also enjoy various anime-themed activities including the Itasha Showdown, a fan favorite special attraction showcasing some of the best pop-culture themed cars on the block and various anime exhibitors including art from Blaze Manga Productions, collectibles from Figma World, kawaii pins from Naytendo, unique decals from Senpai Creations, and more.

Comicpalooza will kick-off Friday night with the inaugural Comicpalooza Launch Night. Decked out with themed-décor, the party will light up with neon lights and tunes will ripple throughout the dance floor. Simultaneously, programming will trigger nostalgic memories while giving con-goers a knock-out show they won't forget. Rolling right into the weekend, fans will have plenty to do with programming panels covering an array of fandoms, topics, and 2022 guests. Meanwhile, exhibitors will excitedly share their diverse collection of handmade goods, art and collectibles, and unique special attractions will intrigue curious attendees.
