Netmarble's New AFK RPG, The King of Fighters AFK, Launches Early Access Phase 2 in Select Territories

LOS ANGELES - MAY 28, 2025 - Netmarble, a renowned developer and publisher of high-quality games, announced today that Early Access Phase 2 for THE KING OF FIGHTERS AFK has launched in Canada, Indonesia, and Philippines.

Based on SNK's “The King of Fighters” IP, THE KING OF FIGHTERS AFK features iconic fighters reimagined in pixel art graphics. Players can build their own team of favorite characters across the franchise, including THE KING OF FIGHTERS R-2 on NEOGEO POCKET COLOR, and enjoy dynamic combat. As an AFK RPG, the game offers players fast-paced growth and effortless progression through intense 5v5 team battles. Players can strategically create their decks by combining different characters and formations.

THE KING OF FIGHTERS AFK includes a massive range of content for Early Access Phase 2. Players can collect up to 113 fighters - including 36 Legendary Heroes - along with 38 Supporters and 17 Pets. In addition, 10 unique PvE dungeons provide a variety of gameplay experiences and rewards for player growth. The game also features 9,000 stages and 15 competitive PvP modes, as well as ranking challenges.

To celebrate the launch of Early Access Phase 2, THE KING OF FIGHTERS AFK offers a variety of limited-time events and rewards. Early Access participants can obtain the Legendary Fighter Ryo Sakazaki simply by logging in during the OBT Special Login Reward event. Day 1 and 2 logins will also offer Unique Fighters Li Xiangfei and Momoko as rewards. Additional bonuses, including Rubies and a Legendary Fighter Summon Ticket, will be given through the Server Launch Celebration Check-In event.

Pick-Up Summon events are also available, giving players a chance to obtain Mai Shiranui and Chizuru Kagura. Both fighters share “Fury” synergy that can enhance combat performance by strategically deploying fighters with the same synergy. New in-game events such as “Lucky Elpy Event” and “Elpy's Dream Land” are running during the Early Access Phase 2, providing additional content and rewards.

Global pre-registration for THE KING OF FIGHTERS AFK is currently available on Google Play, App Store, and the official website, offering exclusive pre-registration rewards. The pre-registration rewards include up to 3,000 free draws that will increase the opportunity to unlock powerful fighters!
