King Gnu's 'Specialz' Reaches RIAA Gold Certification
KING GNU'S “SPECIALZ” HAS BEEN CERTIFIED GOLD
BY THE RECORDING INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (RIAA)
Now certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), “SPECIALZ,” released digitally on September 1, 2023, was written as the opening theme for the TV anime Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2: Shibuya Incident. The track is also included in King Gnu's fourth full-length album, THE GREATEST UNKNOWN, released on November 29, 2023.
Founded in 1952, the RIAA is the organization responsible for awarding Gold and Platinum certifications based on sales in the United States. Gold certification is granted to songs that achieve over 500,000 units.
The song has achieved remarkable global success, topping Billboard Japan's “Global Japan Songs Excl. Japan” chart in multiple countries, including France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Brazil, and South Africa. It continues to gain traction worldwide and remains a standout track with strong international appeal.
King Gnu is currently on the King Gnu CEN+RAL Tour 2026, marking the largest number of cities ever on a single tour. This milestone comes amid the continued success of “AIZO,” released in January this year as the opening theme for the Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game Part 1.
