Episode 1127 of One Piece is terrific fighting and high stakes - what else could you want?

The hunt for Bonney is on in the early portion of this week's episode. I'm pretty pleased with the events therein, too; it's a great sequence. I'm not sure I would describe this situation as rare, but it's uncommon. Namely, we have a character who is both on the run and still a potent fighter, with Bonney trying to duck her pursuers, then flipping the script and running through them with ease. It's a nice balance and keeps things quite interesting. I'd even go so far as to say this is one of the best moments Bonney has gotten since her introduction all those years ago.

The Zoro and Lucci fight is great stuff, too. The most engaging part is that it is a situation where Zoro has been challenged meaningfully. That's… gotten somewhat rarer post-timeskip. I love Zoro, don't get me wrong, and it's great watching him bulldoze opponents. But it's nice seeing him square off against a potent but not quite unstoppable enemy, and while this is certainly not the first time it's happened, it can feel like the time between these fights is greater than I'd like.

Luffy and Kizaru steal the show, of course. This fight is equal parts animation powerhouse and cool action choreography. It's a dazzling lightshow super-imposed across an episode of Tom and Jerry, and I'm standing smack dab in the middle of that Venn diagram overlap. I could have grabbed a dozen or so screencaps for this week's review entry, but I decided to save them instead. I didn't want to spoil any of the splendor. As a final note, it's great hearing all the classic cartoon sound effects like xylophones and such, it takes me back to watching golden age US cartoons as a kid. Luffy is a funny cartoon dream man.
