Webtoon Unveils Major Platform Updates for Content Discovery, Personalization

WEBTOON Entertainment announced a series of major updates on May 6 to transform how users discover and engage with webcomics. The updates were rolled out across its global platforms on May 8 (including the English-language service).

Key updates included:

• AI-powered personalized recommendations to analyze user onboarding preferences, reading history, and preferred art styles.
• A "New and Hot" tab that includes short, trailer-style video previews for new releases and trending titles.
• An upgraded search function that allows users to find webtoons using keywords and themes rather than relying on exact title matches.
• The ability to unlock the entire series at once for select completed titles.

WEBTOON claimed these new features will allow users to more easily find new webcomics, like "browsing a streaming service."
