Rights are currently held by Saban/Disney, Rhino have enquired and are continuing to try and get ahold of Home Video/DVD rights. No idea at the moment.

Better hope they import, that DVD is a UK R2 PAL format DVD. Wink

Rhino is activly trying to aquire the rights to RID in the US, but don't appear to be having a lot of luck. They'll probably just have to wait for Disney to let the rights expire.

I thought I hadn't seen it in America. The order seemed to jump right from the limited Beast Wars DVDs right to Transformers Armada, with no sign of RID. Confused

Try Amazon or eBay.

(Also, if you have a Playstation 2 or XBox, you can buy software that changes the region of your DVD feature. I have Action Replay for this, although I haven't yet had to use it.)

No, we'd say one word: "Wormhole". Wink

Seriously, though, it is a separate "battle station" wheeled unit with its own AI.

When Optimus transforms, it detaches and rolls itself away from the combat zone as quickly as it can, then returns when Prime mentally calls for it to. (Funny how the Decepticons never notice it. Confused )

This doesn't explain every instance of it's appearance, true. But, it's the most logical answer to your question.

I know a lot of Transformer fans weren`t impressed with this, but I liked it. I seemed more at home with R.I.D. than Beast Wars. Armada seemed ok but it lacked (at least in the episodes I saw) what every Transformers show is suppossed to have, the transforming sound.

Any how I`d really like to see R.I.D. on DVD mainly for the last few episodes. Where Prime and Magnus combine, to see Ruination. One thing I liked about Ruination was that he seemed to poise the same threat to the Autobots that Devastator did. And last but not least Fortress Maximus!

On a related note, has anyone played Transformers for PS2 yet?

I feel it was about time a good Transformers game came out, and this one certainly did not disappoint. It's based on the Transformers: Armada universe and main story, but without the kids following you everywhere.

While there are not that many places for you to "transform and roll out", the ones that are there are impressive. I'm glad you can finally transform on the fly, instead of being stuck in robot and/or vehicle stage after stage.

This game also has to go down as the prettiest game for the PS2. The environments are really enormous and never pop up or split. Once you start climbing up mountains and look down at the view, you'd swear it was real. This is the standard of quality that current PS2 games really need to strive to achieve (and most have, with Metal Gear Solid 3 and GTA: San Andreas both looking big and beautiful).

Plus, for the retro crowd, you can unlock the original Transformers PSAs that used to air with the TV series along with many other DVDish extras like production artwork, 3D model examples, and Transformers-inspired and remixed music.

If you are a Transfan, and have not picked this game up yet, it's worth getting -- no matter what generation you watched. Smile

ya know, iv'e had this game since spring and it's been collecting dust on my shelf ever since. good graphics and gameply, but sometimes it can be a tad difficult (chessy) i wish there were characters that could transform into a plane or copter, like Jetfire and whats-his-name...Spinner.

(Hey it worked for the Robotech game.) there was a Takara Transformers game in Japan, but did not make it to the US,Same goes for SEGA's PS2 ver of Altered Beast. Sad
Lucky Japanese Gamers.

I don't think they'd do that unless they wanted to make a special edition and judging by the extras on the current DVD, there isn't much of anything special to add. Unless of course you just have to see the Japanese and Canadian versions in which the character's names appear at the bottom of the screen as they appear.

Theres been rumors of more material floating around. In fact I've seen some footage that was cut from the film. It was part of some promotional trailer that they used to shop around to movie theatres. I've also heard other things from people who saw the film back in the day (I got inot that in the other thread of course). The real question is how hard did Rhino search for extras the first time. I don't really know, and I was really paying attention to what they were saying when the first DVD was released. Supposedly, this DVD release will include 2 different versions of the film, so we'll see. The Star Wars intro wasn't also the only difference remember. There was extra animation involving Unicron and of coruse Spike's infamous dropping of the s-bomb.

The Star Wars opening was used for newly edited version.

Rhino has released the uncut PG movie on DVD, as it was shown in theaters. The extras on the DVD were an interview with the composer for the Transformers movie and a good hand-full of storyboards.

You need to remember that finding these kind of extras for a film this old is very difficult.
