Fill me in: What happened in the Ghost in the Shell episode aired on Adult Swim on 4/24? I set my VCR on SP mode by accident, and, well, the tape ran out before the end of the episode. Anime cry I was cut off spoiler[right after Section 9 goes under and Kusanagi and Batou are having a conversation while walking through a narrow tunnel with pipes on one side. I believe it was right after they were talking about Kusanagi's watch, and Batou was asking her about why she changed her body...?] Thanks very much, and the more detail, the better. (Just so I don't go into this weekend's episode clueless.)

To summon it up, basically spoiler[Section 9 is no more, and everyone is on their own now.] I wasn't paying close attention to the beginning of the episode, so I'm not sure what's happening to Section 9.

Well, I have a little more info on that episode. spoiler[Togusa gets interrogated, even though he tells them many times he doesn't know what's going on. Bouma (sp?--the guy with cybernetic eyes like Batou) and Hazu (sp?--guy with slicked-back hair and kind of squinty eyes) split up. We see that Bouma is followed by 4 cloaked Yumibozou (those guys who attacked Section 9), and gunshots are heard off-screen. Hazu shows up at the bar which Kusanagi goes sometimes (the bartender speaks very strangely). He lights a cigarette, then asks a question of the bartender. The bartender apologizes, saying he "has to pay off some body loans." The 4 people in the bar subdue and arrest Hazu. After they all have left, the bartender opens up Hazu's cigarette to find one of the "seeds" which you saw earlier in the episode. The bartender then decides to help out Section 9. The end of the episode is Batou packing his weapons and leaving his safehouse apartment.] Hope that helps.

I was very surprised with the episode that aired just a few minutes ago. Wow... But I was happy for the Tachikomas.

Yeah, but tonight's Adult Swim had a running theme that seemed like spoiler["Kill every fun-loving character in your show night!"]

Yeah, kind of a depressing night to watch. I'm usually excited to watch the taped shows when I come home from church--after I was done watching, I felt pretty flat for a couple hours.

Crying or Very sad! I shed a tear when spoiler[the Tachikomas sacrificed themselves for Batou; I loved them! The thing the Major said about them acquiring a ghost was deep, and I don't doubt it for a second.] This show never ceases to amaze me!!!

Personally I feel that FMA is getting to much attention (ep. 25). Don't get me wrong, I liked it a lot too. I just find that GitS:SAC has so many more emotional moments where they just drop it on me, where it leaves me breathless at the end. A show hasn't gotten me this excited or moved me like this since Bebop.

I agree, Stand Alone Complex really should be turning heads.

The movies really rushed the point across, making them both seem a little out of reach -- an emphasis on soul-searching with the police elements thrown in as eye candy more than being a real part of the overall story.

Kenji Kamiyama should be praised for finding the mouthpiece that the movies lacked, yet made other anime thrillers (like Noir) more popular. Namely, start out with the cops-and-robbers show that would set everything up, then start to slowly put in the soul-searching elements so that, by the end of the show, you can assimilate the concepts being presented more easily.

The Tachikomas are my favorite characters too, because although their voices are so high pitched, they're really deep thinkers.

i think it's cause the series tends to be very boring and confusing. there's some great moments, but it's so hard to keep up with everything.

I disagree, it's my personal opinion, but I was never once bored by GitS:SAC. Even with all those stand alone episodes just after the middle. I also feel that if you pay attention you are given enough hints, so I didn't find it hard to understand.

That the thing though, some people don't want to have watch a show that closely just to enjoy it. I however love GITS and agree that it touched me more than the most recent FMA episode. Kusanagi and Batou were awesome with the tachikomas...but man give ole Ishikawa some credit as well. His bout for revenge was my personal favorite^^.
