Okay, I finished watching this series a long time ago, but I've never gotten anyone elses opinions, except my friend's (who finished watching it the same time I did, and he was even more upset than I was
), on the ending to this anime.
So I wanted to know what everyone thought about the ending to this show. Did you feel like you wasted your time with the series because of how it ended? Would you not recommend the show based on the ending? Because I've steered people away from watching it, simply because of this (I think endings to anime are extremely important...everyone gets mad at me for this...heh) I just couldn't get over it when spoiler[Naraku didn't die and nothing too climactic happened! They all just got together and ran off and said something like "And we'll continue our adventure!!".] I think I was mostly upset simply because it was 167 episodes long and halfway through I just kept wanting them to spoiler[Kill Naraku already!! But it didn't happen...]. I know the manga continues the story, but has it been completed yet? Is it even worth reading? Anyway...your own thoughts on the ending? |

There's talks of an OVA to conclude the series.

That's pure speculation at this point. Nothing official has been mentioned. Although, this speculation has some validity as Inuyasha is very popular and more OVAs/movies could still return more profit for the creators. |

Yeah, Inu-Yasha is still very popular in Japan, with character singles and statues just coming out. The manga isn't finished yet, and although I think it'll be awhile before it's done, I would recommend reading it. Quite a bit happens after the point where the anime ends, including (non-spoilers) the death of a major character, "new forms" for Tetsusaiga and Tenseiga, and from what the last chapter released implies, another character joins Inu-Yasha's group.
EDIT: Nevermind, spoiler[Kouga left. Why, Takahashi, why???!] Last edited by Dranxis on Fri Dec 23, 2005 8:04 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Yes the ending sucked, but there is talk of continuing the series in an OVA form. If that where to happen, which the odds are great, then we will be seeing the Inuyasha gang once again. The only negative thing that I have heard, and yes this is just plain hear say, is that if the OVA did come out, than the dubbed version would most likly not be done by viz again. And more than likely be done by ADV. Like i said this is just pure hear say, I really don't believe it, at all. But hey inuyasha dubbed by ADV might not be so bad. Just think of the cool extras they might give us.lol. But new voices? I don't think I could standing getting used to them having different voices, but hey why complain, I don't like watching Inuyasha dubbed, just subbed. As for the manga, it looks like we won't be seeing the end anytime soon, since Takahashi-san said she is aiming for 100 more chapters.

I totally understand the voices part. Like all the different companies that do Lupin III dubs (Geneon's the best; followe by Manga Ent.'s Cogliostro). |

the ending was really bad for an anime that had so much promise in it.i've never heard of the rumours about the OVA but they do mention a movie called the crimson hourai island in the last episode. i think that's where naraku might get his a*$ whooped.

With long-running popular shows, the publishers will usually try to keep the core English dubbing team together. For example: - Manga Entertainement hiring most of the original voice team of Evangelion to dub Evangelion: Death & Rebirth and End of Evangelion; - ADV hiring the cast of Ruroni Kenshin the TV show to come back and do the Samurai X OAVs. - ADV hiring almost all the cast of the Slayers TV series to do Slayers Premium (minus Lisa Ortiz, who for unknown reasons was dropped and had to be replaced by Cynthia Martinez. Cynthia's really good as Lina.) - Destination Films hiring ZRO Limit to do the Cowboy Bebop movie. So, it's best to assume by this track record that, as long as the actors at Ocean Group want to do it, ADV (or some other publisher) will spend the extra money to get them in there to do it. |

the ending wasnt incredibly dissapointing, at least it wont be if there is some sort of conclusion in the form a movie, OVA, or a series continuation. i didn't feel that i had wasted my time on the series simply due to a sub par ending, the whole of the series was incredibly enjoyable and couldnt be ruined just by a bad ending.
and also, what volume of the manga is the ending of the anime in and when will the US manga be around that point Last edited by huh? on Thu Dec 22, 2005 7:34 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Well, the manga is still going. Currently, the first chapter of volume 45 was just released, and there's no ending in sight.

you go to the store and trade what we call "money" for it.
but seriously I'm glad I know the ending and that really makes me NOT want the series on DVD. I was gonna buy the first season today from Right Stuf but changed my mind. The good thing is that I still have the movies which pretty tell a full story. does VIZ have the rights to the Inuyasha manga? |

Yes, the manga can be found at your local Barnes & Noble/Borders/Waldenbooks or wherever you would normally buy books. Or, you can order it from Viz's website here:

unconclusive endings annoy me .. some series just end after an arc, and then the ending is never really shown, like yamato gensouki...
i know it'll leave some space for fans to imagine, but i get so into series wanting to know the end, then BAM! nothing happens.. |
