I have this friend, named Mitch. Now, Mitch is an average guy, only without eyes, thumbs, and he has a severe colon problem. Being such an average guy, who has seen the occasional episode of DBZ and Bebop (well, not so much "seen" since he has no eyes, but he's heard the noise and bothered his friends into telling him what was going on. He also couldn't watch for more than 5 minutes, because of his colon problem), he has been asking me for more anime to watch that he might enjoy.
So, any suggestions? |

One important thing to know is: does your friend understand Japanese? Since he has no eyes, he can't read the subtitles, so if he doesn't know Japanese, we can't suggest titles that are only available as fansubs. If he *does* know Japanese, I would suggest Violinist of Hamelin, since there's plenty of powerful emotions (i.e. angst) being expressed vocally, nice music, and he won't even be bothered by the cheap animation.

I'd suggest Magical Viola Faery Theater Risky Danger.
Each episode is on 5 seconds long, the animation is rather choppy, only 1 frame per 5 seconds, and the art, inspired by Shirt Guy TOM, is kinda simple... so his friends shouldn't have a hard time describing it to him. Fortunately his hearing is intact, right? Because they do speak a mile a minute... or more like 12 light years a minute (1 light year's worth of speach every 5 second episode). The Voice Actresses are Kotono Mitsuishi and Megumi Hayashibara. Not being able to speak Japanese fortunately won't be a problem, Kotono and Megumi also did the English dub for Anno Domino Video. Of interesting note, the soundtrack was provided by ANN's own Johnathan Mays. |
