Anime on DVD gave Vol 1 a B- & Vol 2 a C, but at least they knew there is an audience for this. I was interested because it sounds insane like Bobobo, Excel Saga & Dr Slump. Pretty much if you can't keep up, give up. THis is like the movie Airplane, except speaking English & growing up in Western culture, most of us get the jokes in Airplane. Like Airplane, these titles seem to have the attitude of throwing everything at the audience in the hope something will stick & it usually does. I've only seen 1 ep of Papuwa, but that was enough to let me know what I'm buying--question is will I be able to wait for the box or buy it at the next ADV sale at RightStuf?
I insisted on seeing it at Comic-con, much to the dismay of the 4 teens (female, about 15) I dragged into the room with me, but after this one ep, my daughter said we have to buy it. It is seriously strange & very funny as long as one can suspend one's disbelief as one has to in these titles. They liked the fish in the fishnet stocking, though my daughter whispered "Oh, those things from Slayers". Strangely, the craziest one of the group was the one who had the hardest time accepting it, but she agreed it wasn't a waste of her time as she thought it would be.

I'm one of the very narrow percentile that liked it back when it was being fansubbed (don't worry, I've got the released DVDs now and even all the manga (the actual Japanese-only dead tree version, seeing as nobody even tried to scanslate this beyond one chapter)).
It's definitely not for everybody, but I do wish that more people would give it a try.
