I started watching an episode of Knights of the Zodiac, the censored version of Saint Seiya, today on Cartoon Network, and I was appalled at one thing. It may seem like a minor gripe, but... Whose idea was it to have a poser punk rock band (Their name is Bowling for Soup, and they aren't very good rockers) do a horrible cover of the Flock of Seagulls "I Ran"? That's bad enough, but then the most horrible thing ever happens... they put said bad song cover on Knights of the Zodiac as the theme song. It kinda ruined the show for me. What's next? Will they have a censored version of Naruto called Naughty Ninjas with that song "Stacy's Mom" as the theme? Come to think of it, that would be kind of cool.

Yeah, DiC's version of Saint Seiya isn't really good. Luckly, ADV is providing both an uncut dub and sub on DVD.

lets hope that never hapends (a sencerd version of naruto with that song "stasy's mom") that would b like the end of the world cause naruto is like one of the best anime/mangas ever

Knights of the Zodiac is a guilty pleasure. Dic ,yet again, destroys a great anime and turn it to crap. The worst in the censored version is the character Swan. He is a pretty boy who sounds like a California surfer. AND THOSE PUNS!!!

i dont know but probably "they were triping dude" cause if I see one more episode of my fav anime f*ckt up like it is now i will go crazy and hunt for those dumApless of div......by the way have u all seen the cencerd version of ranma 1/2 back in the 90s (OMG now that was hell)

OK, man, I can tolerate a certain amount of laziness but you need to at least try to speak in complete sentences and spell out the words you're using. "You", not "u", so on and so forth. It isn't hard and it makes it much easier to understand what you're trying to say. -Zac |

Um... dude... Flock of Seagulls did a good job singing I Ran. Bowling for Soup's version sucks... wait, let me rephrase that... Bowling for Soup sucks. You can't understand what they say in that "Zoom Zoom" song on that car commercial (It's in some Brazilian language... my friend has a lot of that stuff on his mp3 player), but it's still a good song, and unless you are fluent in Japanese and have not told anyone yet, you can't understand what they are saying in most anime music either, subtitles not included. Wow, taliking. We're taliking? Man, I dunno if I'm dressed for taliking. Don't you need a degree talik properly? And what if I use the Grecian style of taliking? Is that against the rules?
Now, all sarcasm aside as Zac did a better job of pointing out your thoughtless approach to grammar, what're being discussed at the moment, apparently, are the merits of the band Bowling For Soup who did the edited-dub theme for Saint Seiya/Knights of the Zodiac, How Flock of Seagulls was understandable, and how not being able to understand lyrics does not detract from the quality of a song. I certainly agree on the last point. I cite 99 Luftballoons by Nena as a prime example of a hit song that was only understandable to those fluent in German. Or, for a more classic rock pair of examples, how about Louie, Louie by The Kingsmen or Oyo Como Va by Santana from the Abraxsas album. |
