Hey anybody here like Samurai Champloo? They were reviewing it on Go Anime TV this week. They said it was really a good a show the way they portrayed the characters in this anime! It was really cool because, Samurai Champloo is one of my fav shows! Also, my fav character is Mugen. The there's his famous quote:" I don't give a rat's ass about going to hell. I guess it's because I feel like I'm already there!"

[EDIT: Deleted the extra exclamation and question marks from the title. -TK]

I admit I did like it, the fights were very good, the character interaction was pretty good, and I liked the element the music played it the series much like Bebop did.

However it isn't one of my favorites. Yes I admit I liked the character interaction. (loved the episode with Jin's love interest) however they were very generic at times and I felt the ending lacked.

Just finished this. Excelent

Very good fast paced action. Intersting characters. Though it was somewhat episodic especially at first, it did a nice job of developing characters and developing the overal story as they progress along their journey and building to a final conclusion. All the music and other references or w/e you wanna call em were entertaining. It reminded me alot of Cowboy Bebop (and not just cause of the references.)

I LOVE Jin. He's so cool. And I love the way his hair grows suddenly in the last episode, spoiler[just for dipping in the sea for a couple of minutes Smile]
I love Mugen a lot too. But Foo is way pale compared to the others. I was expecting much more of her after the episode with the gumbling house.
Also, I felt the overall story arc was too slow. I mean, pretty much nothing happens in that respect for at least 14 chapters, except the characters meet, and they get one little clue...

Also, I'd like to ask: does anybody else feels that Jin is suspiciously similar to Ishida from Bleach? They both have glasses (which they both don't really need), the same hair style and the same aloof coolness, and their love-hate relationship with Mugen/Ichigo are similar too.
Could Ishida be a reincarnation of Jin? Wink

This is actually one of my faves. I didn't like it first since I thought it was too seinen for me, and I'm more inclined to watch shojo. I believe I didn't like it until the episode where they all got high. I can't remember the episode number. I liked it cause from that point the storylines were less serious, and I just thought it was funnier from then on.

Anyway, as you can see my avatar is actually Jin. He is my current favorite character, bringing Nuriko from Fushigi Yuugi down. I just think that he's so cool, and it's weird to me how he can be funny sometimes even when he doesn't mean to be funny.

I like them all actually. I am amazed at how three different people can have such great chemistry. I think that the character design is what made me like it more.

I absolutely loved it. The writing, artwork, & music are all first rate. It went from free TV to cable during its run in Japan (or was it PPV? Can't recall) & the series was held up for awhile before it began airing again. Those were some difficult days for me! I started watching it with the first fansubs, and man, the wait for the series to start up again was tough. I bought the complete series as soon as it was released as a set, & I still TiVo the [as] airings. Bogus Booty & the baseball episode are so good! Smile

I'm in the middle of watching the series now(1/2 way through). When I first saw a couple of episodes back on AS, it didn't really seem like my cup tea. I mean from an animation standpoint I think it's awesome. But something about the style of hip-hop fused with feudal Japan didn't really seem to be doing it for me.

But, I decided to queue it up with my Netflix and I'm actually enjoying it alot. The episode with Jin and women he saves from becoming a prostitute was really good. I think he's by far my favorite character in the series thus far.

I like this series, I'm about halfway through it currently. I very much enjoy the hip-hop flavor infused into an anime of that time period. It's actually quite original in my mind and it gives the series a western feel which is one of the great draws of the series. Not to mention it's good a great dub and a likeable line of main (and even guest) characters (I love the character designs). Plus, it's episodic enough that I could show this series to somebody and it wouldn't take much to explain what's going on. Overall, a top-notch series.

EDIT: Lol, pyrex. We meet yet again. Wink

my first time watching SC was on adult swim and i had a pretty big reaction. in fact i was in the middle of eating when i saw spoiler[mugen first cut the dudes arm off] on the first episode, i was thinkin in my head... typical he's not gonna do it and kick his ass sorta thing but i had my jaw hangin i said oh snap. i didn't exspect adult swim to show it hahaha but i was wrong!

SC is pretty BA, i liked the 2 eps spoiler[where mugen fights the guy who throws chi as his weapon] the best. jin is too serious to a point its funny alot of times. i didn't really much like foo i mean she was ok... but kinda boring however i did like her very cool ability to eat

I agree. I thought that the hip hop (and I'm actually a fan of rock) and all the other modern theme elements made it more contemporary. There were topics like getting high, homosexuality, street graffiti, beat boxing, breakdancing - things you'd never expect seeing from an anime with a samurai theme. I'd imagine I wouldn't have liked it so much if it weren't for these topics (As I've said I didn't like it at first).

I liked the hip-hop style a lot, and agree that the modern references added a lot to the anime. I was ultimately disappointed by the story, which didn't really go anywhere, and the ending, which I thought incredibly stupid. Still worth watching, though--definitely an innovative concept and well-done characters.

I think it's a pretty good series. I haven't seen a whole lot of it, but from what I see it is worth watching. At first I was wary of it, but now I think it is good and the fight scenes are pretty cool. I do like the characters, especially Mugen. I don't believe it is one of the best shows though.

It was one of the few anime series my girlfriend and I have enjoyed together at an equal level. Watched it through once, no particular need to rewatch, but bought the great soundtrack CD afterwards, which gets a lot of play in our apartment, so it sort of feels like the show's still around (though there's no way in hell we'd watch Razer's heavily compromised airings, where text messaging takes up most of the screen).

I really liked the series. To me it seemed like the old fashioned version of cowboy bebop. Old fashioned meaning the use of swords and walking opposed to guns and space ships.
The whole each episode isn't directly related to the previous one, but there is a small overall storyline going through. I would recommend this anime to anyone who has watched cowboy bebop and liked it.

Samurai Champloo is one of my all time favorites. I love the action and thought the fight scenes were done really well. Music wise, I think it has one of the best soundtracks. Jin is my fav character.
