You know, on the forms I think some of these authors just mistakenly read "title" as "plot summary."

Well, the good news is that they've completely removed the need to ask "so what's the book about?" Laughing

I was thinking that 4 and 5 might be good. The Necronomicon one especially!

I'm a successful light novel author at a boy's high school, but I'm being strangled by a female classmate who's a voice actress and is younger than me

{Ignoring possible contradictions of "girl classmate" at an all boys' school or "successful light novel author"} Writer Trap! or The Voice in the Darkness! Look, when the title could pass as the synopsis but it's too descriptive, something's got to change.

Or maybe the guy is just bragging; "Look at me, I'm a successful light novel author in a relationship with a voice actress younger than me!"

There was a time where I also thought that girls were nice and cute

Ok, I like that one.

By the way, when was it that this trend started anyway? Was OreImo the culprit, or was it being done before that?

(And wow, now that I've seen some of the newer titles, "There's no way my little sister could be this cute" seems positively short and to the point.)

It really does seem that way. I like how there's no less than 2 titles with the phrase "Student Body President" and that 4/5 of them describe overbearing women and the type of encounter the pathetic male lead has with them. When you consider that this is just a list of the top 5 longest titles it really does make it look like Light Novels only have two types of plots and we've already seen the other one in this list.

"I Read this Article on Anime News Network About Light Novel Title Names and Thought that They Were Ridicuosly Long, So I Laughed Internally for a Moment, Then Posted this Comment on the Comment Section of the Article"

How's that for a title?

I wrote a Light Novel I would like to publish, I don't want to tell you what it's about but I have a good title. It's "I am a regular high school boy who's neighbor is a cat-girl a year older than me. But she is also in love with my best friend, who's the student boy president and my age. Did I mention he's also a wizard. But I like her and don't want him to know. I am a pirate by the way. We're also in the middle eastern desert."

I really hope that is just satire by Sigsawa. He seems the type who would love to take jabs at the current light novel market.

Wonder how many of these will get an anime adaptation.

"No matter how good a novel series is, long titles will usually stand out more than normal titles and someone always comes up with a horrible abbreviation for the title!"

Seems to be a trend starting a few years back. I'm almost glad that some of these have not had anime adaptations.
