Awesome. And we have pretty boy (Or is it a female?) doing Mikami? In any case, I don't understand a lick of Japanese, but his performance so sounded earnest that this episode made me chuckle a good number of times. It's so silly. |

Just what I expected from Mikami Teru, another reason why he's my favorite character from Death Note.

The guy is spoiler[friggin' CRAZY]; it (and the contrast spoiler[between his fanaticism and his... uhh... prestigious-ness]) comes across really well, which is why I love it. He looks spoiler[like such an upstanding guy at the beginning of the episode, but look what happens after he meets his "god;" awesome awesome stuff.] |

I still had some doubts up till this episode, but now I officially love the new arc. Heck, I might actually like it more than the other arcs so far. I'm really loving Mikami - that man has some serious problems. And the music was awesome - I loved the track they were playing when spoiler[mikami was on the phone to light. ]
Yep, so now Light has both a fanatical fanboy and a fanatical fangirl. Or maybe we should call them his 'disciples'? I especially loved the final scene - spoiler[ Mikami writing names like crazy saying 'sakujo, sakujo, sakujo!' (I watched this raw and forget what they translated it as - eliminate?)] This guy is intense. And now that the investigation team has seen spoiler[Light on the phone to 'Kira'] it's gonna make it harder for them to suspect him. This really did work out very well for Light.
I knew I'd heard his voice somewhere - Kyoya! (from ouran high school host club). Why does that make so much sense? I gotta say though, I feel a bit sad that it looks like we'll be watching Light spoiler[manipulating yet another female character - and I feel kinda bad for Misa, too]. As much as I love death note, I do wish it had some more decent female characters - Misa's been the closest so far to an important female character and, as much as I think she's fun to watch, she doesn't really reflect that well on women. Although, given the show, I guess I should't take it too seriously. I apologise for the semi-feminist rant. |

Did you really have to put spoiler tags around what you said? We all know Light's personality, he basically said that Misa was worthless. Also you didn't rant IMO, most of the females in Death Note are... not as exciting as the male characters. |

Oh, yeah... I... uhh... definately have to agree with you on that. But, you know... it's entertainment (as pig-headed as that sounds...). Also, spoiler tags are appropriate, because... if they weren't there... then now you'd know what was going to happen (again). But, if anything... our posts are giving it away. |

Well, I'm never really sure what to put spoiler tags on, but seeing as I personally hate being spoiled, I kinda assume it's better to put it on than leave it off....
Yes, I know it's just entertainment, I didn't want to sound really outraged or anything.... If anything, actually, I think it's sort of evidence of Light being a pretty despicable character. But I'm used to people not wanting to talk about this kind of stuff as much as I do, so I guess I won't bring it up again. |

I don't like Near or that other guy that appeared with him at all, I'm up to episode 31 so far and I think the anime took a turn downwards, still great though. Still spoiler[L's death was in a way necessary but also made the anime less compelling, it feels as if the series had to end soon after L's death instead of introducing these new Ls that hope to do what L couldn't do?]. The series is great although inconsistent at points, Light has a perfect life, good looks great grades, loving family, you'd think he wouldn't need anything else... There are I think 6 episodes left for me, the only fitting ending I see for this is (possible spoiler, maybe) spoiler[that Light kills himself by writing his name on the notebook. If he's caught by either N or the other guy it would just ruin it, I think. I'll find out soon enough, but the only one I could have seen bringing an end to Kira was L. ] Well I'm looking forward to watching the end of this great anime.

Marvelous that Mikami has finally been introduced. He is my second favorite Death Note character (next to Light), and he's an awesome addition to the series. The fact that he's another genius on par with the brats is an added bonus.

Mikami finally being around makes me EXTREMELY happy, but I totally hate Taki. Just furthering the obvious "women are weak" theme that Death Note has. But there are only three more episodes! Waaaaaaaa I'll have to find something new soon.

So I've been on the anti-Death Note wagon for a while but (episode 32) spoiler[was really great, I think that introduction of this new character is a nice change of pace, frankly it could of happened sooner. ] I happened to catch the next time on DN, and it's has me a bit worried, but after this last episode I am hoping for the best.
Also like you noted DKL the music for this entire episode was really great, it fit it every spot and helped to the mood of each individual scene. |

Death Note 33
Oh god… was it just me or was the: spoiler[Sequence where Takada and Misa face off] COMPLETELY HILARIOUS? I just knew that we would have to eventually get to this point; awesome. In fact, it was a nifty little parallel to the entire situation… I was especially fond of the part where: spoiler[Takada realizes that Misa has no idea in regards to what’s actually going on and that Misa honestly thinks that Light is on her side… The part where Takada walks out of the restaurant with that smug look on her face was GREAT (and with the music to boot).] There was also a lot of neat sequences in this episode… spoiler[I liked the elevator-splitscreen thing with Near and Light, that was great. I also liked the imagery in the part where Near managed to connect Mikami to Takada (and, with that vague connection, he was able to connect all three parties… and if you’re gonna try to debate how Near got to this point, there’s like 2 contrivances that make this possible: Mikami was like RIGHT there on the TV screen at the same time that Takada was… and the other one being that, if Light was ever to use someone, he’d probably use someone with a semblance of competence in regards to what Kira was doing, and, judging by Mikami’s answers… he MIGHT be the guy… and there you have it… this is how the investigation into Mikami got started up) Yeah, the part where Near starts trying to rack his brain around any kind of lead that’ll give him an opportunity was REALLY neat; his eyes and the sudden earth-quake combined with the cascading TV monitors was so damn awesome.] Anyway… this was a great episode; so… what’s happening now is: spoiler[Light is trying to tag Mikami as the Death Note holder, but now he’s having Mikami use a fake one to throw everyone off and (he’s not really using it… I think he texted Takada and had her kill the guy on the train)… Takada is going to be the notebook user person now… or something.] Well, I'm not entirely sure, but let’s see how it works out. But man… there’s an amusingly large amount of motivation threads that I’m having to follow here… it’s pretty neat; multi-tasking makes for a great plot device. On a side-note, insight into Near’s character was interesting: spoiler[Like how he has never boarded a plane alone before and how it seems like he really wants to follow in L’s footsteps (meaning that killing Light, which by all means is a really easy way of doing this, is out of the question since it was pretty much something that L would’ve never done). ] Anyway… yeah, let’s keep the awesome going boys; how’s Light gonna get this to float? |

The scene is as hilariously stupid as it is in the manga, with that French-sounding accordian hamming it up in the background... I was wondering whether I was watching a agonizingly contrived thriller or some sort of soap opera. Which reminds me: I stand by the belief that Death Note could've gone into harem territory. While you'd have just about every single major female character really poorly representing the female side, there'd be a twist here: the leading male is a real ass. And, uh, you can try to fit the pieces together, DKL, but Near's realization of spoiler[Mikami being the other Kira is way too far-fetched,] even when considering all of the other over-the-top plot developments that have been pulled. |

Well, yeah, could be... but really... if anything, a lead was just SERVED to him on a friggin' platter. And then you immediately have: spoiler[Mikami pointing himself out as the prime suspect during the investigation ... it'd be almost impossible to not just stick with it now given how everything fell into place.] But yeah... that's not to say it isn't ridiculous, of course... but, all things considering, they contrived it to a point where he'll just bite anyway, is what I'm saying. (and it seems like Light spoiler[wanted him to bite anyway... as for why? I'm not really sure yet, so I'll just see where it goes... I mean, if he didn't, he could've just ordered Mikami to stop using the note and had Takada continue or something]) But, who knows? I'm still having a ball here. And, as far as your harem suggestion goes... who's to say that it isn't already like that? I mean... they're fighting over an ass (through the use of mind-probing, I might add... which is why the parallel is hilarious), like you said. |

I know many fangirls that are pissed as shit at the lack of Matt. He was there for like what 2 seconds in episode 32? He's not important enough, in my opinion to focus so much on him, but being that he spoiler[plays a very important role in the kidnapping of Taki], they're going to at least need to show him more than just panning past him. I wonder what they'll do.
