The "Winter War" thing is canon, not a reference to fillers lasting till winter. I personally took at as a sign that aizen won't have his forces ready till winter, thus the war between SS and HM (and possibly the vaizards) wouldn't be till winter. (Probably not a spoiler, but I haven't been watching the anime when i heard it was filler again so better safe than sorry)

I think it could possibly mean both. Captain Yamamoto obviously meant that winter would be the time to clash with Aizen, but I think its plausible that the anime will just do filler until winter as well. This is as good as time as any to do it, and doing it now will allow them to focus on some of the side characters.
As for episode 130 itself... bah, still not done with this arc. And the characters' intelligence seems to have dropped a bit. Several stupid errors and missing obvious signs. Matsumoto should have been suspicious just of Yui appearing at such convenient times and especially after Shouta's story. Yet she did absolutely nothing and even left the two of them alone. Even after they escaped, Matsumoto didn't seem to think Yui was a thread until she told Matsumoto to stop getting in her way.

Just watched episode 131 and I have to say that this episode had to have some of the poorest animation I've seen in anime for quite some time. If you pay attention to how Hitsuguya was being drawn/animated you can clearly tell that the animators or obviously either not caring or are just suffering from a low budget. But needless to say IMHO the animation quality was just downright terrible and unacceptable by many standards.

Yeah the animation was a bit weak this time around. At least the silly Shouta mini filler arc is done with, although looks like next week is more filler. Here's to hoping that 133 starts back on the main storyline.

I think alot of the show has gone down the drain since the filler episodes with the bounto (or whatever they were called). The annimation and storyline itself has degenertated into a less then desirable experience. The Soul Society chapter has me drawn to the TV waiting to see more, but latly I have found myself less and less interested in what happens next. I might end up havin to go back to My Anime list and change my review on the show if this continues. I'm just hopeing that its one of those "slow" points whch most animes have, and usuly its just a single episode at most. I'm theorizeing that since it has 100+ episodes that prehaps they will only have these few bad ones then get back to the way it was befor the animation company was allowed to do what they want, I mean the fillers were put in.
The one thing that did have me realy wanting to see more was once they revealed that Ichigo's dad was a Death God aswell. Then it slowly started getting worse an worse till i have reached this point.
If what you all are saying is true, about it being fillers again. When did this all start, or is going to start. And, if they do realy go back into filler that will be so wrong! Should have a law aginst putting fillers so close together like that, after making us endure the pointless battle for Soul Society aginst the Bounto, to thrust the views back into another filler story is just wrong. Prehaps the annimation company is just trying to draw out the story line as long as posable to make the viewers wana never watch it again? Or they just wana get everything they can out of it since the 1st 60-70 episodes went over so well with everyone.
I'm getting a distinct feeling that this is becomeing worse then the Naruto series

It's been filler for five episodes, stop being a baby and watch something else if you're going to get upset about it.
And really, the Soul Society arc was great because they had built everything leading into it and the drama was high. There has been some set up and there is sense of importance given to this arc but nothing major has happened yet. In the SS arc I thought it was cool when Uryuu beat the crap out of that guy with the sword that turns into shurikens but that was really nothing compared to Ichigo fighting Kenpachi. Then he fought Byakuya and was entirely outmatched so had to learn bankai Same with this arc, he fought Grimjow and was obviously completely outclassed so he's learning his hollow transformation.
Long series inevitably get boring as well. I watched like 200 episodes of One Piece and even with skipping all the filler I got tired of it.

No, they just don't have much of a choice since the current story arc of the manga hasn't ended and, from what I hear, doesn't look like its close to ending. I just don't understand why they stopped the filler instead of just doing another filler arc. I wouldn't have minded a new filler arc that much, but showing 20 or so episodes (with extra dumb scenes and lousy art in some of them) and then doing a new filler arc is a bit annoying.

i have to agree, that the past few episodes have been pretty slow, i mean this whole Shouta arc is really crappy, i they really could've done without it. also yeah i have to also agree that the animation in 131 was terrible, but then again its filler and filler episodes tend to be shitty anyway. I just wish they'd get back to the whole Vizard thing.

Yeah, the current manga arc (which would be where they'd immediately roll into if they didn't use filler), without getting into spoilery details, is similar in style to the Soul Society arc. It's reaching the point where it could either A: lead to a strategic retreat, or B: barrel forward, which would extend the arc by probably another 20-60 chapters. Basically, if the anime jumped onto the manga material right now they would be on a downhill slope that would run them about 20 (really good) episodes and then they'd be inevitably caught up with the manga, so unless the manga arc ends soon, they'd have to put the filler right here.

Just saw Ep 132 and the animation in this episode was a nice step up from the pathetic animation displayed in Ep 131. So the truth is out Hitsuguya can play soccer . I'm not really a captain tsubasa fan but were there any puns at it in this episode? If there weren't any do you think that they should have been added to incorporate more comedy in this episode which it had a lack of?
In regards to Karin, at the end of ep 132 we see Karin charging up the soccer ball in an attempt to destroy the hollow but failed in the attempt. Based on that, I think that if Karin is going to have shinigami powers at some point I think that her ability will be something along the lines of being similar to guile's(from street fighter) flash kick attack.
Sadly, based on the preview for ep 133 its still going to be more filler . Speaking of filler I would so like to see a filler episode of Urahara being a mad scientist just sadistically torturing those stupid bount dolls , or better yet hand them over to SS resident mad scientist Kurotsuchi Mayuri . Another filler episode down the line I would also like to see is Tatsuki vs Yoruichi in a martial arts tournament fight, since there is some indication that Tatsuki is spiritually aware, I think that she has some potential at gaining shinigami powers and if she does I hope that she is trained by Yoruichi.

They appear to be doing character based fillers for a while. After the next one on Ikkaku they're doing one for Yumichika and so on and so on. We probably have at least a month and a half of filler.

I'd much prefer character based filler than dumb arcs like that last one.

Agreed, they haven't been too bad in the past.
BTW, I really appreciate you guys watching the fillers and reporting on them, then I don't have to How would I otherwise know that I need to watch the next one because it's got Ikkaku in it.

Amen to that! I almost skipped all of the Bount arc if it wasn't for the fact that it offered a smidgen of character development. I wish they would stop introducing new characters that we will never see again instead of focusing on existing characters. There're enough characters in Soul Society alone that they could develop side stories for without having to bring in characters like Shota and his sister whom we're probably never going to see again.
Having said that, I still have to say I was a bit amused by how they were able to incorporate the three mod souls into the main story without taking away from it. That was rather clever. I still get annoyed everytime they flash back to the Bount arc though. Jeez, stop reminding us how stupid that storyline was, already!

Almost every time the mod souls appear in the canon episodes, it annoys me greatly. It's not quite so bad (though still annoying) when they are doing comic relief scenes, but they should not, under any circumstances, be involved in the battles. I want those things offed before the current batch of filler ends.
