Damn that's almost four months away from the American premiere date. By the time it comes out in Japan it'll already be available subbed on the internet.

This movie looks more and more like it's going to end up being next year's Dragonball: Evolution.
Some of the redesigns are questionable, the whole thing seems to be refashioned just to be grittier, more hardcore, and hip. And folks, believe it or not, a BULLET WAS DODGED when the long-rumored Sailor Moon live-action film starring [rumored] Kirsten Dunst and [rumored] Geena Davis didn't get made. The SM anime just wasn't popular enough in American for somebody in Hollywood to care. And yet they still eventually dip their toes in the field and generally blow it 90% of the time... Not that Japan has a better track record of live-action adaptations of anime, either. I can count the GOOD ones on one hand -- and without using all my fingers. (Middle finger reserved to express what I think about the other live-action adapations.) I'm not suggesting the original Power Rangers (I'm NOT a huge fan of sentai ranger shows in general) was fantastic literature,either, but the hardcore, older Transformers can tell you exactly what they think of what Michael Bay did to that franchise. His movies may have sold a lot of tickets BUT they also dumbed down further what was already a kid's franchise. I dunno... I would have passed on this already (just like I did the previous two Power Rangers movies) but geez this already LOOKS like it's missing the freakin' point... |

The majority of which would be either "Micheal Bay pissed on my childhood" or Gen1 inspired butthurt. Opinions which no one should see as anything more than.....opinion.
Lol no it didn't. Especially since the movies play things much more darker and dire than the 80's cartoon ever did.
.....The point of is what? Besides a group of teenagers banding together to fight evil? |

I'm not even a Transformers fan but I'm not sure how people could justify Michael Bay's adaption of the franchise as anything remotely faithful or dismissed as blind nostalgia.
Of course the irony here is we're talking about an adaption of an adaption. Power Rangers is already a watered-down distilled version of Super Sentai, so complaints of a movie doing the same seems hypocritical. -Stuart Smith |

The story seems to incorporate a lot of teenage drama which isn't my taste. But I'm definitely curious to see how would current CG and special effect fare with the giant robot gattai and combat sequences.

The movies weren't designed to be 1:1 faithful to the cartoon. Each Transformers property is designed to be different when it comes to certain aspects (which occasionally opens it up to constant criticism) the movies weren't any different in this regard.
Yeah because there weren't fans arbitrarily complianing about how Optimus was a Mack truck with flame decals instead of a Peterbilt or taking issue with how the movies were split between the humans and transformers instead of 90% of the movies focusing on the Transformers only. |

The franchise is called "Transformers." The main appeal are the Transformers. Age of Extinction showed few people care about the human characters, as no one made a huge deal about it being the first film without Sam Witwicky. The movies not focusing predominantly on the actual stars is a valid complaint. We're four very long entries into this series, have any of the robots actually ascended to a level that can be described as a character? Not really. The Deceptions are disposable props that are sometimes killed off before their name is even said on screen. Outside of Bumble Bee and Prime (aka the mute and the sanctimonious murderer), the Autobots fair no better. That would be excusable if it was an epic war story where there wasn't time to stop, but that's not these movies. Until AoE, they were essentially episodic Saturday morning monster of the week plots. |

Unfortunately, outside of the hardcore fans, no one cares about the latter and the former is ALL the matters. The sad reality is that Dragonball Evolution is "crap" because it didn't make money. Had it been a box office success, you'd have had sequels despite the fact that it's terrible. |

And? the Jason movies are called Friday the 13th. Titles don't always have a whole lot to do with their plot of a story.
Which is weird because Mark Walhberg and Kelsey Grammer still played significant roles in the movie's plot. As did the humans in the three movies that preceded AOE. Few people cared about them because humans factored little into the plots of the TV shows which is where this divide originates from.
Which then turns to complaints about the so called "stars" having different designs or being too difficult to identify in the middle of huge fight sequence as was the case for "Revenge Of The Fallen".
.......Only if you either didn't watch the movie's or are just grasping at straws. Especially where Age Of Extinction is concerned. Which focused on Optimus the most.

I'm not sure about this version of "Power Rangers." This doesn't seem to me like the movie's inclusion of darker material helps this movie. Besides,what's wrong with making it a goofy,fun movie,like this movie should have been. The world needs more movies like that,not more movies that are more serious than they need to be. That's the big mistake this movie made,putting in darker material where it can't really be supported.

Aside from the fact it was never going to have those all of those elements and that the TV show(s) which are still running have them? nothing.
The world doesn't really need more movies that are goofy and corny simply for the sake of it. We have enough of those as is and most of them aren't good.
....Um it can be supported the only people who would argue otherwise are the armchair quarterbacks who think those goofy elements they liked in the old TV shows are something everyone else would like. |
