Ash didn't even age that much, and yet, this milestone is happening anytime soon.

It's not that he didn't age that much...

He didn't age at all.

Oh don't get me wrong it's not really a critique, more of a joke. They went for too long with the not ageing I feel that they can't switch now to him getting older anymore. But again maybe they could surprise us next season, after all they took quite a gamble by changing the artstyle, the question is how much of the audience is old farts like us and if it would be interesting to make him age...

I dunno, that mustache makes him look a bit older than the grade school age we're being told. Laughing

Ash being the same age isn't any weirder than Bart Simpson never aging so I don't understand why anime fans keep making a huge deal about it. Pokemon is an episodic kids' show with a successful formula that works for Nintendo, so they're not going to make any sudden radical changes to appease a small group of hardcore 30 year old critical anime fans. In any case, whenever the show does attempt to make radical changes to the formula, fans suddenly complain that they're ruining the tradition and it's no longer as good as the classic episodes of Pokemon. That's what happened when they tried to shake things up by making Team Rocket more serious villains in Black and White, rebooting Ash's origin story in the new I Choose You movie, and now with the radical art style difference in Sun and Moon. So fans should be careful with what they wish for when they demand they make radical changes to the formula because you might not like it when it actually happens.

I don't think I've seen many preschoolers playing the games, reading the mangas, or collecting the cards much less getting bent out of shape when Ash loses in a League.

Feeling old after knowing this. Laughing All I want in my lifetime is for him to win a real league!

@CCTakato

I think its because Ash is on a journey and thus fans need to find timelines for when such and such happen. The Simpsons doesn't really have an ongoing adventure going on, plus The Simpsons have entertain the thought of them being older in "The Future" type episodes that fans can be content with.
