Not quite sure 58 is considered still young. Nice thought, wish it was true, since I am up there too. At that age there are many illnesses that can take you out. Even a cold could go out of control.

Wow, I never thought some of the World Masterpiece Thater series and Little Witch Academia shared the same writer! Little Women II and Little Witch Academia are both some of my favorite animes of all time! She will be missed, but her inspiring work will always be remembered.

I'm surpirsed she is not more well known after looking at her portfolio. If anyone has a WatchMojo account: http://www.watchmojo.com/suggest/Top+10+Women+working+in+the+Anime+Industry
could you vote for her

Very sad to hear this. There have been too many in the anime industry passing away like this lately.

Requiescat in pace, Shimada-sama. Arigato gozaimashita.

I'd still consider it fairly young, especially in comparison to the average lifespan for women in Japan.

I'm very sad she's gone so soon, and I must say she ended her illustrious career on a high with Little Witch Academia. May she rest in peace.

How sad. If there’s any bright side to this, at least all of her work had been completed, unlike many in this industry. But again, really tragic that this happened.
