I first saw this series as an anime in Japan, and I had no idea what it was, but it did look interesting. I like this series, it seems to be the "anti-Kenshin", although I'll admit I've never read Kenshin. There is a bit too much scatological humor for me, but I love the way Kagura talks, uh-huh. Plus, anything this wacky can't be all bad.

Oh yeah, this is definitely a series I've really been enjoying quite a bit! One of the funniest series I've either read or seen in quite a while. But at the same time I really love how it incorporates sort of an underlying theme within it all. The whole idea of Gin's Bushido code that he actually takes very seriously, despite how insane it is, yet he really does make a good point in what he follows. It's both funny and interesting at the same time! Definitely a very creative and original idea. I'll definitely be looking forward to following more of this series.

You guys have piqued my interest. I'm not typically a fan of Shonen Jump series as they are all usually ridiculously long, and in my humble opinion, not always that good. But this sounds interesting.... So, is it worth the length and moolah?

I've been wanting to check out the series myself, since I've heard that it's pretty hilarious. Hopefully I can get around to it when the semester ends, but right now I'm finding myself on a tight budget for the first time in three years

I've read volume one a while ago and enjoyed it as a more unique Jump title. It is pretty funny and the art is nice, too, so I recommend everyone at least give the first volume a try. I haven't had the chance to pick up any more volumes, and the same goes with everything else I'm in the middle of reading.

Sounds interesting, might have to check it out. I agree, I've never been too big of a jump fan either, Although I do like a couple of their stuff. I've actually never heard anything about this anime before, must mean I really need to update myself with more anime and manga

Gin Tama is like a slap-in-the-face to anyone who has seriously studied the Shinsengumi, the Bakumatsu Period and Meiji Restoration. It intentionally defies all that is Shōnen Jump and all that shōnen is and, on top of it all, it is completely and utterly irrational!
But, of course, that is what makes this series so incredible. Sorachi Hideaki is certainly not afraid to test his editor's limits with his balderdash-of-a-plot, or lack thereof, and his perhaps legally insane characters. Some folks might not understand all of the humor, due to the natural inclusion of cultural jokes, but it's a manga that's not afraid to laugh at both its entire medium in addition to itself that any anime and manga fan can enjoy. I love this series to pieces - right down to those absolutely nutty chapter titles.

Sorachi Hideaki is very good at creating one shots. I especially enjoyed "ShiroKuro", and "Dandelion" wasn't too bad. His episodic style really fits Gin Tama, and the adventures are enjoyable to read. Definitely two thumbs up.

Been loving this series since Viz first previewed it in a January Issue(Infact this month makes it a year since I've started reading Gintama) of Shonen Jump. Heck, then they'd took it a step further by allowing the first volume to be serialized(Before the title went into the Shonen Jump Advanced line). I'll always remember the chapter where Gin's whole sense of meaning was to get a issue of Jump(Which he had forgotten to pick up), I just couldn't stop saying this is ridiculous, in a good way though.
Seriously can't wait until someone picks up the anime.
