Wasn't surprised to see a basic story for the film, since the manga's "narrative," such that it is, can be pretty opaque. I remember reading in an interview Nihei had (that was published on ANN), that Blame! was basically just whatever Nihei wanted to draw for himself, w/out considering the audience much, and Biomega feels much the same way. Both of those manga are about the atmosphere, unique and crazy visuals, and one of a kind artwork. All in all, i was happy with the film, and would like to see more Blame! stuff. I think Polygon's CG gets better each time they make a show.

The review for the most part is spot on. The environment is sort of the character in the story. The manga is almost silent with limited dialogue (IIRC having read the Tokyopop volumes years ago) that just adds a certain ponderousness to the environment and reinforces that Killy has been traveling alone vast distances through a landscape often devoid of life for a very long time.
I think the movie looks pretty good and it captures the immensity of the landscape pretty well. I would also say that Polygon Pictures is getting better and better with character models. The human characters move much better in this movie as opposed to the jerky movements of the characters in Knights of Sidonia. I think with the exception of Killy and the Safeguard, the characters are a little more expressive than what we found in KoS.
I can't speak to the quality of the Viz BD release as I have the LE of the Japanese version. I've watched it both sub and dub which are both on the JPN disc though extras are not subbed and I would say that the dub is decent. My biggest gripe is the script which feels very basic and I would like to have seen some stronger dialogue. Perhaps Cibo's character could have been utilized more. I agree with the grading too its a solid B in my opinion. The VIZ BD is reasonably priced and if you see it on sale then I would say its well worth the pick up.

I really like this movie; I would definitely give the overall(dub) a solid B+ and the Story a B+ as well!

Same, I really liked it. Hope they make another.
Also, a Biomega anime would be cool as well.
