It finally happened. An article on the two red heads who released a year from each other. Nice article. I mainly watched Yona because the plot looked interesting with action and killing involved, plus "the boys" had powers. Not only that, but vistlip (Yugioh 5D's, ZeXal, Divine Gate, etc) did the ED song, so I had to watch and it delivered (plus Akiko Shikata did the 2nd ED, which is fire as usual). Then I watched Shirayuki mainly because she had red hair like Yona and I wanted to see how similar/different the 2 series were, plus eyelis were doing the ED song, so it was a no brainer. Both series were great (Yona is better to me) and I wish for more seasons of them.

Shirayuki does have the clear advantage though of having more of her story told in the course of two seasons while Yona's anime ended fairly early in hers and has yet to be resumed.

I love both of these manga and their heroines, so this article was a very fun read!

Shirayuki always reminds me of Shurrei in Saiunkoku Monogatari. Like Yona, Shurrei is a princess, but one from an impoverished branch. Like Shirayuki, Shurrei has always made her own way forward in the world and expects to do so in the future.

No red hair though.

One strange similarity Saiunkoku Monogatari and Akagami no Shirayuki-hime share is that they include a damsel-in-distress scene early in the story. One almost has to wonder whether it was included because it was somehow expected. Thankfully both arcs end quickly, and the authors of the two works never bother us with that stuff again!

Man, I wanted more Yona of the Dawn. That music got me so hyped.
