NEWS: Shin Ikki Tousen/Battle Vixens Manga Gets TV Anime Next Year

Ikkitousen series was never a masterpiece, but somehow, it always makes me glad when I hear about new anime entry being announced.

Its an easy sell for the target audience - let's make an anime adaptation that primarily revolves around female high school students who have bodies like porn stars and their clothes get torn off during battle. Add gratuitous shots of their curves or from inappropriate angles and that's Ikki Tousen for you. Enjoyable in a sort of turn your brain off and enjoy way.

Maybe we'll get a proper release of the whole manga now. Come on Tokyopop, give those rights up or something.

Wonder if this could result in Dragon Destiny finally getting rescued (Media Blaster's license expired years ago) as someone will go after this new TV season. Still blows my mind that seasons 1, 3-4 are what's in-print. Then Extravaganza Epoch and Western Wolves remain unlicensed. Though FUNimation could always pull say a Date A Live where they license TV sequels but never anything else. Date A Live: Mayuri Judgement is STILL unlicensed. I'd hate to see this new TV season licensed, and then Extravaganza Epoch and Western Wolves get glossed over again.

Or those that followed like Senran Kagura or Queen's Blade. Valkyrie Drive Mermaid to a lesser extent.

That would be great. I won't pretend the T&A and clothes ripping was not one of the main selling points. However, much as how High School DxD (initially) had a surprisingly decent story line compared to most T&A shows before it, so did the Ikki Tousen/Battle Vixens manga. Enough of one at least I actually really want to see how the story ends up, and who ends up eventually as the top dog of all the fighters.
