Does Udon still have the manga license? AFAIK they never actually rereleased it.

Looks good, aside from the usual frame cutting that cgi anime gets even though everyone agrees it does not look good. I would prefer hand drawn animation like the tiny snippet we see but alas.
I'm a bit concerned though because when I think of Sugar Sugar Rune I think of outfits. Lots and lots of outfits, which seems easier to draw than to model in cgi.
Cautiously optimistic. Sugar Sugar Rune was the first manga I read and I still have all the books.

Kind of funny that a new Sugar Sugar Rune anime is going to be animated at Khara, since if I'm not mistaken, Moyoco Anno is Married to Hideaki Anno.
And by sheer coincidence, I'm close to finishing the original anime series, since it received a Latin American Spanish dub last year.

More remakes is always a wonderful thing.

This style of CG is often more miss than hit (unless you're Studio Orange) but this looks beautiful.

That said, I am desperate for Mayocco Anno's Sakuran to get the attention it deserves. The manga was out of print for so long I didn't notice it got picked up again in 2012 and now it's long gone yet again.

Even worse, the gorgeous movie still hasn't gotten a US release after almost 20 years. Given the vast, incredible number of Asian TV shows and movies we now have access to, I really thought it would least be available streaming by now.

The Sakuran movie is actually streaming on RetroCrush in the US right now. It's one of their premium titles, so you do have to have a subscription with them to watch it (and so I haven't watched it myself, even though it's on my watchlist), but it is available.

Apparently it's also on Pluto TV for free at the moment but at the cost of having to watch a bunch of terrible ads in the process.

She is, and Anno also did some key-animation on the Anime.

The backgrounds and characters look really good for the most part, but things like sweeping camera pans are still done with an extremely low framerate. It's all CG, so they get to choose what frames to cut, right?

But anyway, I liked the old Sugar Sugar Rune anime, so I'll be happy to see more of it.
Maybe with better pacing this time / more faithful to the source material.
So not stretched out like before *or* overly rushed, as is common these days due to low episode counts.
