Everything you love about the show is back!
Stellar character animation and direction!
Peak fanservice in every way that counts!
Really committing to the in-universe content they cosplay with!
Marin being as enthusiastic, degenerate, sexy, and loving as ever! Now with the classic Bunny Girl cosplay that's perfect for her legs! She even gets a cold because a Bunny Girl is the last thing you want to dress up as during a cold October night, but it was worth it!
Gojo being as dedicated to cosplay and Marin as ever, no matter how much Otaku stuff still sometimes throws him off! On-top of slowly but surely recovering from what happened to him when he was a kid!
Life and hobby-affirming vibes!
Nowa being Best Girl by cutting through the BS and asking the question everyone is asking!

I am a fan of My Dress up Darling, but wholesome is not a word I would use to describe it. Wakana and Marin are absolutely adorable together. But Marin's sexyness is not wholesome at all.

Rarely have I seen a series animation improve for a Season 2, and Cloverwork is moon shooting it out of the park. Marin's character animation for even 'little' things, like just shifting her body or head slightly, is animated so well I have to do a double take and ask myself, "did I just see that?". I very much enjoy the manga, but I will say with all honesty the anime is superior which for me doesn't happen too often comparing the media; for me it's the other way around. I thought there would have been a drop off quality-wise for Season 2, but I'm ecstatic it's the opposite and I can't wait for more.

I can't imagine watching this dubbed when Marin's original voice is just perfect.
Aside from that, great review.

Haters gonna hate
Seriously though, it is so great to hear AmaLee and Paul Dateh as these characters again, especially Paul Dateh, because he's barely been in anything else. Not that you'd know from his acting chops, because he continues to be fantastic as Gojo. The naturalistic performance from Paul contrasts really nicely with AmaLee's exuberance, and the chemistry on display is just lovely.

This is one of the series we like to watch twice, once subbed and once dubbed. I adore Amalee as Marin, I think she's effective because she's the kind of person the character of Marin Kitagawa was based on. If you told me Amalee owned an ahegao t-shirt of one of her favorite waifus from a porn game, I would believe it immediately and without question. Although I also assume this would just. Come out in one of her livestreams, from her own mouth.

I've now only met the class that Gojo and Marin are in once, and i swear I will protect them all with my life. I genuinely nearly cried.

Yeah, the supporting cast being just straight-up super supportive in the healthiest way is an oddly wild twist; this show marries horny and wholesome in the strangest ways, but it really works. Super glad MDUD is back.
Also, apropos of nothing, was cracking up at the Japanese vs English titles for the 'knows all my measurements' episodes.

I describe this and a few other shows as "nice people being nice to each other" and I can not tell you how much I need this sort of thing in my life. I watch all sorts of other shows, many of which are the polar opposite, but it's really nice to have this.
I got a little verklempt when Gojo's classmates not only looked out for him and his well-being but also clearly respected his skills, and even admired them. This seems to be a theme this season, that Gojo is finding out, as the review said, that he didn't have to keep his interests and passions hidden and too himself for so long. I know how hard it can be when you feel like something you like/love/are passionate about puts a bulls-eye on your back, so seeing him get support like this...yeah, gonna go back and watch that again.

As others have said, it's nice that Gojo's classmates are showing their support for him. Hopefully this can lead to reinforcing the idea that his hobbies aren't weird and that he can open up to others again.
Also, I was impressed with how much they showed of the next anime/manga Marin's a fan of, The Student Council President is the No. 1 Host. It feels like a bizarre mashup of Marimite (with the uniforms and all-girls school) and Ouran High School Host Club (only with actual hosts) with a little bit of Fruits Basket thrown in (the main heroine looks a lot like Tohru and keeps using very polite speech even in her inner thoughts). It's always fun when an anime features a fictional series and goes all out in showing as much of it as they can.

| Quote: | | Boy, it sure is convenient that Gojo needs to put together a suit so that Marin can cosplay as a guy just a few days after they met their very first crossplayer! |
So 1) yeah, the anime switches the Amane and Arisa-chan stories around in order (which works better for the anime, since the Arisa-chan story is a fantastic way to reintroduce us to our favorite couple), which means that the timing DOES feel a bit neat to go from crossplayer to crossplay situation, but 2) don't forget that Gojo has already helped Shinju crossplay as Not!Yukito, so it's not like he's wholly unfamiliar with how it works.
I liked that they dedicated half the episode to PrezHost; I was sold with the pan down the heroine “running” (in place). Between this, TsuCom from the S2 debut, and Uron Mirage in Witch Watch, this is the season of shows-within-shows and I will eat it all. Plus, it gives us more show-don't-tell, which I dig.

I was wondering why the class would want Gojo to double up on work, so it was great to see their surprise when he walked into the classroom, wondering why he was there when he was supposed to be making the outfit.
I know it's a small thing and not even the first time this sort of scene has happened in this series, but I also really liked the scene at the staircase where Gojo and Marin were discussing the details on everything regarding the outfit. The way they're able to talk about these subjects is a great showcase of why this series works despite that it might otherwise look like it falls into the same tired romcom tropes.

Before Gojo went to the class I was thinking, "Why don't they just ask the class if they can focus on the pageant?", so it was nice to see the class be one step ahead on that.
It fits Gojo's personality that he would try to do everything, but I would have thought Marin would have thought of talking to the class first...
I also felt the show within a show went on too long.
Marin cosplaying as a girl crossdressing as a guy (instead of just crossdressing) feels like a bit of a cheat lol

A Reverse-Harem with a cross-dressing Yuri "Main Couple." Can a series get more cultured?
I love how Marin's only interest in participating in a beauty pageant is if she can cosplay in it.
I do love how most of the class were as aware of PrezHost from the JDrama version while Marin had only read/watched the manga/anime which is so very Marin. In fact it helped bond the whole class together!
Nice to be reminded of how great Marin looks in a corset.
The greatest challenge yet: turning Marin into a girl, crossdressing as a guy, while hiding that she looks like a girl. Which, considering how feminine Marin looks, is quite the conundrum.
Imagine having the guy you wuv knowing every inch of your body and your measurements...
It's nice of Marin to not want to put too much of a burden on Gojo again and wanting to step up...but all her friends/classmates know she should not be left to her own devices when it comes to shopping.
As Gojo opens up to more people, as he puts himself and his skills out there, he finds more people willing to accept him and support him. He's not alone, and he doesn't have to think of himself as an outcast in his own class. They all appreciate and support him. And they all have distinct character designs.
