Oh, God.... that premise sound absolutely awful. A policeman with little restraint living with a woman who can't defend herself from his lack of restraint.

announced on Monday that the anime's production has been canceled due to "various circumstances." The anime was previously scheduled to premiere this year.

I wonder what "various circumstances" would caused the anime to be canceled before it's premiere, was it the content, or something going on with the production committee, or the mangaka/creator?

It's either the second or third option, I will press x to doubt thats its because of the mangas content

I'm assuming there's some specific Japanese phrase that's always translated as "various circumstances," but I laugh whenever I see it pop up. It says absolutely nothing and yet still somehow comes across as passive-aggressive.

Torai also announced that the manga will resume serialization under a new publisher starting this month.

Rabbit Gate has had some "adult" shows air on regular TV and then streamed the uncensored version on AnimeFesta. I can only imagine that the project wasn't going to turn a profit, or WWWave isn't as interested in anime.

It's ongoing with 10 volumes out, so there should be enough interest for an adaptation, just perhaps not for a short-form smut version?

^ This might be why. If it is now under a new publisher that means that the previous agreement has to be nulled otherwise the studio would have to pay additional revenue to the new license holder.

My guess they could not afford to do it or where not confidant to do it so they scrapped and now it is up to the new publisher to approve for a new adaptation.

If it was problematic or controversial content, then that would cancel most if not all AnimeFesta shows and similar. Sounds like it could be more of a publisher contract-related thing.

Rabbit Gate certainly has a type. That being said, I imagine it’s the manga resuming serialization under a new publisher that is the culprit. I doubt the payment processors are the cause, this time. Shame RG waited until the eleventh hour to announce the cancellation.

My condolences to all who were looking forward to this.

PS: I’m still bitter over Yuri On Ice!!!

That makes the most sense (would also help if I read the entire article too)

That's women smut 101 quite frankly, this is extremely tame compared to shows, supposedly, for younger audiences like "The world is beautiful" where the girl falls for a literal genocider who constantly threatens her with destroying her country, killing her family and throw her in jail while the plot justifies him because he was sad Crying or Very sad

Never try to rationalize it.
