I was able to rewatch B't X & B't X Neo via Tubi last year, before they got removed (I own the DVD sets from Anime Midstream, but I figured it was a different way to support it), and there was one kind of amusing thing about how it was offered. It was a dub-only stream for both seasons, but the thing with Anime Midstream's release of B't X is that it used clean versions of the episodes themselves... which included the episode title splashes for each episode.
Anime Midstream got around that simply by using the subs to display the episode titles in the center of each splash on the DVDs, but since Tubi only offered the dub that meant that each episode featured a clean title splash image for each episode, relying solely on Eric Vale stating the episode title vocally. It was definitely "a choice", as some would say, but that's 100% on TMS simply doing the bare minimum for the streaming version of these episodes, instead of at least hard encoding the episode title subs. |

Regarding Pretty Cure, Toei sent those same NGN masters to every other site that streamed the show almost 20 years ago. I remember watching parts of it on both Crunchyroll & FUNimation's website back when it was a recent addition for the latter and noticed how bad it looked and sounded in both.
It wasn't until Crunchyroll got the streaming license for Europe in 2021 where, like with Air Master in 2020, they updated the video to the DVD version and thank goodness for that because it's an improvement and it was likely done to include the multiple sub tracks to the same video. |

Beside anime, TubiTV has several old J-dramas (particularly jidaigeki genre) like for example, Shogun Double Deception (yep, your eyes don't deceive you). There are other jidaigeki drama on TubiTV too beside the one I just mentioned. So yeah, that was really surprising to see some old school (and for the first time subtitled) J-dramas on Tubi.

There's some good stuff only on Tubi. I don't use it much bc I already sub to CR and I'm not a fan of watching ads, but some of the stuff on my Tubi watchlist are Fancy Lala, Midori Days, Bakugan, Figure 17, Haruka Beyond the Stream of Time, and Arjuna

Wait, does Tubi has the TV dub of the Hades Saga or the Towers Entertainment version, because the Hades Saga TV dub was widely criticized by Latin American Saint Seiya fans because they replaced the entire original series voice cast, the backlash was so severe that an alternate dub made by Towers Entertainment with most of the original voice cast was made for a DVD release. I watched the Hades Saga in Netflix a couple of years ago and it was the TV version.
As a Latin American I'd say that Kaleido Star's Neutral Spanish dub is kind of divisive, some people love it, others hate it, Colombian dubs in general are like that. The only thing I can say is that I Shirley Marulanda sounds nice as Sora Naegino, but the acting in general varies from episode to episode. |

Ah, Magical Meow Meow Taruto. I was half-expecting it to show up in this discussion, and still got jumpscared by its inclusion.
Since the show's rarely come up in ANN column discussion since Mike Toole's honestly kinda mean dig at its character designs over a decade ago, I'll take this opportunity to say how wild it is that Taruto premiered on WOWOW - a satellite network whose original anime slate has been known to dive into near-explicit sex scenes on occasion, i.e. Kemonozume and Moonlight Mile - and its source manga published in a seinen magazine, and yet it was marketed stateside as a kids' show, 7+ rating on the back of the DVDs and all. |

Tubi’s a weird little beast. Most of what is there that people care about is second string, but they have so many weird second string shows that no one would willingly seek out. In a way, it’s the closest this generation will get to finding a random ass movie in syndication between baseball games and the like. The generation that grew up with Bloodsport and The Last Dragon on Channel 11 didn’t actively seek them out, they just happened to find them because that’s what the syndicator aired to kill time. Same thing here. And honestly? I think that’s a great thing,

I love Tubi. It has such random stuff on it. I like watching the weird super low budget conspiracy theory laden documentaries about mysteries and stuff.
I watched Uta Kata on Tubi and enjoyed it, it was a good little series. I also watched an anime I'm blanking on the name of where a guy enters the world of anime and it has a lot of meta 4th wall breaking. There's so many cool old things. I want to watch more anime on Tubi but it's hard to get motivated to read subtitles sometimes. There are dubs there too but I'm not super big on dubs and the older series dubs may be... an interesting way to watch it. But maybe I'll try, seeing as some of the shows only seem to be available in dub.
I should do a 3rd watch of Fancy Lala... I also gotta finish Arjuna. I got partway through a few years back but need to pick it back up. Man, Tubi is just so good... My parents like watching the trashy horror flicks like sexy cannibal girls from space or something. You don't know what you'll find on Tubi... Sometimes when I don't know what to watch and start browsing, the extent of random stuff available is so surprising. Like, hey, that show is on here! That's crazy. That Tai-Chi thread was also crazy. |

I like using Tubi! They have a lot of old shows I used to watch when I was younger. They even have old Lifetime movies that don't show on TV anymore. I've watched a few anime on there like Bananya.

I've actually found a lot of stuff I've had fun watching on Tubi!
Did not expect a "You're not supposed to know about Trinity" reference. Infini T-Force is fun! I also actually hear good things about Lolirock. I never knew about Time to Duel, which...as a Yu-Gi-Oh! fan I feel somewhat ashamed of. Or not? |
