First one was very meh, it was the "we have armored core at home" game, which was only really notable because there hadn't been an armored core game in so long, but now even that doesn't hold anymore. It also had way too many character, the first half of the game just constantly throw these one notes character at you, while not really developing the world or the main core cast.
We'll see if the sequel can justify itself a bit more, its good that they're changing some aspect to let it have more of an identity.

Given the footage I've seen so far, I'm a little concerned - I loved how much the previous one felt like I was basically controlling a new Armored Core 3-era game, but with a fresh coat of paint. The new one seems to have compacted the mechs a bit and they look a tad less-bulky and a lot lighter, and I don't really want an "Iron Man" game from this. When Armored Core made the jump in AC4 to faster more aerodynamic mechs, I stopped playing.
I'd figured AC6 was going to be a return to form, but it feels a bit too much like Elden Ring with a "mech coat of paint", so having the original Daemon X Machina around to scratch that PS2-era Armored Core itch has been great.

This series does look pretty cool, I think it will have to wait behind Trails in the Sky and Xenoblade though.

The first game was pretty much the platonic ideal of nonsensical anime dialog. Characters were constantly talking to each other, but in all my time with the game I don't think I ever heard any of them actually say anything.
Granted, given the enduring popularity of Armored Core, it's clear these sorts of games don't need to put much effort into their narratives, but some effort in this sequel would be appreciated, so here's hoping against hope.

Not surprised they went with power armor tokusatsu after the mecha of the first game. To be honest, on the surface level this makes me think of Anthem but if it were exciting.
