As a baseball fan, yay!!! And I'm happy to see this 11 year old baseball manga making it to the US for the first time and it's from the legendary Mitsuru Adachi. I liked to get this (either by buying or borrowing) manga in one way or another.

It would help if LA Dodgers or the MLB to maybe give this manga a boost, I mean why not, you already have Dodgers promoting Demon Slayer and One Piece. If the Dodgers or MLB can give this manga a slight promotional boost, that would really help a lot in the US. Anytime we have baseball manga and anime getting released in the US, the MLB should use their platform to help these baseball manga and anime some form of publicity in the US. It can help sales, and make sports (that include baseball) anime/manga get a wider audiences if they do that. MLB doesn't have to limit anime boosting to shonen and Shonen Jump titles, they can do it with baseball genre anime/manga.

Anything before Haikyuu!!, sports anime and manga would have difficulties breaking into the US market. That's not the problem anymore after Haikyuu!!!, I believe I said this on another thread. The US market for sports anime/manga was different back then before Haikyuu!!!

This release actually got mentioned in a book club column on an MLB fan site I read. I did a double-take when I scrolled down: "Wait, I know that name!"

Really??!!! Could you linked that MLB fan site that mentioned this manga by any chance? I want to see it for myself, and for other people on ANN reading this thread.

Here it is. And heh, I looked at the column from a few months prior and one of the contributors recommended The Tatami Galaxy.

This was my first time following a new release from Denpa, and it was a nightmare. I think it got delayed, what, four or five times? And then when it finally did come out, shipment delays meant none of the retailers actually got copies the day of, and they just sort of trickled in at random. It all felt very amateur hour.

Still, I’m always delighted to be able to put some English-language Adachi on the shelf, even if I do tend to think his short-form work tends to be weaker than the serialized stories he’s best known for. But beggars can’t be choosers and all that.

Here’s hoping it sells well and wins some awards and convinced other publishers to try localizing more. I know Touch is the series everyone knows, but that’s probably my 5th most-wanted Adachi series, and (almost?) all the ones ahead of it are shorter and, therefore, presumably easier sells.

We probably can’t expect anything more from Denpa. They told me they had no interest in picking up ny more of Adachi’s work regardless of how well Short Game sells. Oh well.

Whoa, so a page on SB Nation is giving a shoutout and promotion to this manga. That's something I never expect to see. So, maybe the sale for this manga could see a slight uptick in sales thanks to that recommendation. Any publicities for this manga is good publicity. Now if only SB Nation and other baseball fan sites or podcasts can also promote baseball anime/manga out there, that could greatly help them.

This bullpen of high school baseball stories from the legendary Mitsuru Adachi (Touch, Cross Game) swings at the heart of any great sport—the power to bring people together.

You forgot MIX. (The currently running sequel to Touch.)

I've gotten several releases from them and the best method is to just preorder it from somewhere that takes payment upon shipment and forget about it for a few years. It'll come when it's done. I think every book I've gotten has been delayed at least once, but nothing has been canceled.

There's a typo in the grading section. "as they're glue" should be "as their glue".
