No-brainer. The first day had a percentage of seats filled over 96%, this included screenings in the morning (on a weekday!) and at 2AM. The movie is becoming a phenomenon in Japan. I'm sad the west largely ignored it, I'd love to be able to go see it at a theater myself.

Bean: Well, in the defense of Western tastes, Oshi no Kaguya seems unnecessary after the Takahata take on the story.

^ The sad part is that nobody watched Takahata's version anywhere, not even in Japan.

I really feel jealous that Japan is getting this on cinama even for a limited time (which now has been extended). When I was watching this, I felt that it would have been an amazing experience if it was on theatre instead of just streaming from my PC.

Surprised and delighted that this movie is doing well especially for a Netflix anime original movie. If only that could also happen here in the West as well.

The movie was amazing, and there is no point in comparing it with the Isao Takahata movie, which also deserved its own audience. Different moods altogether.
