There was no way they could adapt the entirety of FF9 so a side story makes sense. Sad they can't call them Black Mages though.

"Black Mage" is right there in the title though? The only place dark mage is used instead is the studio's summary blurb. And given the same blurb used Bibi instead of Vivi (which I'm told is in-line with the French localisation), it's easier to just assume they just didn't think they needed to switch to the official English terms when they wrote it.

EuroVisual is effectively Cyber Group 2. It's co-owned by Cyber Group's founder, Pierre Sissmann, bought out most of their assets (including this show) and have very similar logos.

Huh, well this is probably more ideal than trying to adapt FF9's story, though I'm curious if Zidane and the gang might show up at some point.
