I am not sure about this one yet. The mc not being some overpowered fighter or mage is welcome and him using his sassy appraisal plus other support skills might make for interesting adventures. I also enjoy some of the jokes such as with the crystal horned rabbit.
On the other hand, starting off so soon with a big breast gag and repeating it like 4 times in a matter of minutes is not a good sign. There is also not a whole lot to set it apart from the sea of other isekai (yet).

My reaction to the opening scene of this anime went something like:

"Oh...he's not an adult who isekai'd into an 8 year old even if there is a bit of a shota thing going on with the short stature. That's cool. Huh...is that Sui's voice as the system? Heh. A horned rabbit as the first creature again? Really? Wait, he killed it by falling on it? Hey, the whole grassland is one big monster trying to wear him down? That's a bit innovative. A big boobed blonde elf? Well, that's okay, maybe this won't be a complete...oh hell, her buttons popped? Guess I know which anime just elected itself to to get tons of hatred dumped on it as the next garbage isekai..."

But the truth is, while the elf is destined to now be thought of as Bazongas the Elf Princess, just objectifying a big pair of boobs isn't enough to have me drop an anime automatically. Having an adult isekaier get engaged to a ten year old? I'm out. Sexualize rape? I'm out. Have an overpowered dude who solves everything with his cheat skill and causes the whole world to bend over? Not interested (unless it's funny). Having everybody be over the top evil except for the main character and his harem to justify an adolescent raging revenge spree? Boring and gross. Slavery? God I'm sick of that trope. But I like boobs. I think everybody likes boobs. Even women like boobs, they just don't like certain kinds of males liking boobs a certain kind of way. I get tired of the mandatory hot tub scene in slice of life or romantic comedy anime with its tired old tropes, but it doesn't mean I drop the anime on that basis.

And the elf wasn't really stupid or obnoxious. Just unfortunate to be the butt...or boobs in this case...of a dumb running joke.

So yeah, I'll give it three episodes. It didn't bore the crap out of me like the first episode of that Isekai Gatherer anime not too long ago (edited twice because I forgot to explain that the first edit was to eliminate an unfortunate grammar accident).

I kinda dug it. Nothing amazing, but fun. I like fun. I figured Edjwald would be super grossed out by Emalia's huge...

...elf ears. Wink

Anyway, certainly willing to watch more.

Well, it took awhile, but I finally came around to appreciating the appeal of bat-like elf ears. April Fools! I had to edit that sentence because I made a grammar error while choking.

Who the hell ever decided that going Yoda instead of Spock was a good idea? From Hermy the elf on that Rudolph the Reindeer special to elves on the shelves all the way through countless RPG games to Legolas on the Lord of the Rings movies, elf ears were portrayed in a consistent way, but nooooooo!

Some Otaku numbnuts decides that it makes perfect sense for a warrior race to have ridiculously long, 90 degree fleshy ears that anybody could cut off or bite or grab and tear off in a fight!

How do the poor bastards wear snow caps? How prone to ear infections are they?

But (ahem) it's unseemly to rant about such trivial matters every single anime where it's an issue.

The elf having big boobs is not a problem. Some favourite characters have big boobs. What I am totally turned off by is the focus and the fact she is clearly humiliated by the running gag of her boobs trying to escape and popping buttons.

Maybe it is some part of hypocritical that the avatar I have been using for a while is from Futoku no Guild (Immoral Guild); an incredibly shameless anime that pretty much mostly about the fantasy characters being molested by monsters. Including a scene or 2 that not only does a button pop from boobs. It is pretty depraved, but at least it knows what it is, and I would argue ends up more comedy for how far it goes. I find that less of a problem than this show giving the impression that it wants to play things straight, and then just randomly has this nice elf lady be embarrassed because the universe decided it hates her buttons.

Welp, episode 2 just dropped unexpectedly this fine Saturday morning, and I watched it.

I like the show. It's doing a pretty good job maintaining the balance between an OP isekaier and a powerless wimp. The dude did apparently just get the medieval fantasy equivalent of an MD by reading a book, but I liked that it took three bedbound days and a hangover instead of an instant level up, for example. Or that he has to borrow MP for stuff, at least for now.

A lot of times the humor is cheeky and lands.

Sometimes the humor is still busty and faceplants. Somehow I doubt the boob obsessed yandere maid is going to change that dynamic.

But mostly, the show just has an easygoing vibe and doesn't just seem like a cash grab. The art is better than factory floor isekai, for example, and little touches keep adding up. The receptionist wasn't the generic guild receptionist, for example. The wolf beastkin who's apparently guarding a little girl isn't an immediately familiar trope. The MC has yet to save the first harem candidate from bandits or monsters or the like.

I don't ask for much from my isekai. In any case, I'm out to do Easter stuff.

I also like the mc being OP in some ways but needing plenty of help in other regards. I hope that he stays weak combat wise since it means he can be the ultimate support. If he can keep learning skills he can offer heals, buffs and possibly more to his future party members. Character wise everyone has a bit of quirky charm to them. Nothing overly deep but it is enough to make it more interesting than standard npc 1 to 20. Kudos to the guild lady for saying bodyguard and not slave, I was worried it was going to be another one of those.

It's OK, there is a bit of an oldschool isekai vibe due to the no-reincarnation standard-no-drama-highschooler setup and some other aspects that I'm unable to point my finger at. Feels a bit above the isekai average, but the isekai average is what it is.

Also several people with malfunctioning wardrobe here... The guildmaster can't take his shirt off like a normal guy, and I can't fathom why the elf hasn't just got a new shirt, you'd think she'd have lost some of the buttons already. I'm hoping it's a cursed item that cannot just be taken off, but on the other hand I'm not hoping that since it's pretty stupid too.

A show being stupid can be a good or a bad thing and in the case of this show it is keeping it on my to watch list. The premise is nothing special but because the show does not take itself seriously at all and everything is basically a dumb joke it works. Hibiki helping out Claude and Lilian with his overpowered bullshit was fun, as was the chief god getting some payback (and his skills going temporarily offline along with him). I wonder if Emalia and her journey will be story relevant or just one giant gag.

That's pretty much my take. I was praying for the scene to be over when the pervert-for- money kept having orgasms every five seconds, and I think we can take it for granted that the boob jokes are going to keep coming like they're being pitched by a batting machine, but the anime is pretty good natured and aware of how stupid it is, and at least some of the humor has landed every episode so.

Some of the characters are a tad annoying but the show is surprisingly good at making all of them feel unique. That goes especially for Claude who has proven himself to be very capable when it comes to fighting but the rest of his skills are not great. That includes being clumsy and not being able to cook at all. I also liked that the training actually felt like training with slowly making progress.

Welp, this show passed the 3-episode trial. It's nowhere near as good (objectively) as A Hundred Scenes of Awajima, which I've dropped after two episodes, not currently being in the mood for a narrative kaleidoscope of reflections from a bunch of drama majors. This show's not as well animated or as artistically framed or as creatively narrated, and honestly, I should be ashamed of myself, but I still like it because I seem to be more in the mood for something that's good natured and laid back and self-aware about its own dumbness.

E4: I think it's doing comedy rather nicely, good timing, reaction faces, repeated gags, and all that well placed. The characters also aren't immediately recognizable stereotypes. Simple stuff, but the basics are all working, so it's just good, no high sophistication required.

I am starting wonder if there is a main story. I suppose that setting out on a journey to find those ancient sages might be one. I hope it happens since episode 5 was amusing yet also all over the place with muscle showdowns, a tricky thief, doing some quests plus whatever Iver is up to. Oh right, also some crossdressing, a trope that has become somewhat (more) rare in recent anime.
