Heh, I'm also kind of an apologist for this manga, it's one of those that kinda pushes against some of the tiresomeness of its continued lameness and self-awareness of its lameness by the mostly good nature of the series that makes it hard to get mad of (I remember when Nick Creamer once said a comedy can use the good vibes as a way to compensate weak gags while an off-the-wall mean spirited one has to put way more weight on effective gags, and it fits here). Also probably to my fault I'm the kind of person that gets all the parodies it does (including the composition and layouts) to the point that it feels like a Discord buddy that sometimes may be a little exhausting but it's fun to talk about nerdy things once in a while and kinda embraces their lameness for some fun.
With that said, I didn't watch those shorts but if they're that short I don't think this nor the movie has the advantage of building that pleasant vibe, so I guess it was kinda doomed from the start. But as the manga once jokily said, "hey at least I had a movie unlike some other Jump properties", so I guess it has that.

Probably the best movie of the last several years, it's just as great as the original series.

I haven't read the manga, so perhaps I don't know what I'm missing, but I did enjoy the shorts.
I haven't gotten a chance to watch this yet though. Hopefully I enjoy it a little more than the reviewer

The film was great, it was just a parody of it's own genre which worked really well.

Another Roboco fan here. I don't know how I missed the news that the movie was available in Crunchyroll.
The multiverse arc was very funny and with many jokes that worked fine in the manga, dunno how they will do in anime. In any case, Roboco has solid, if not great, sales of volumes and one of the longest series in current Weekly Shonen Jump, which is not a small feat.
