Hamada is credited for more than character design for Awajima, on every episode you can see his name under Chief Animation Director. And he's been complaining about just how many corrections he's had to do, which probably didn't help when it came to him leaving on bad terms. But Madhouse hasn't been in a great place for a while, I won't be surprised if we see more departures over the next year or two
